Well I used about 3 c4ds from planetrenders. (I can't find them.) Just make sure to erase them over the focal. I used the eyedropper tool to get colors from the focal and then used those colors in several brushes behind kayne to help the flow. I also blurred and erased a little bit around the edges of him to make it look like he was fading away. Also I sharpened a lot throughout the sig (not all at once) to help the depth. Then I would "fade sharpen" a little.

It wasn't a really complex sig.

I was thinking a blueish background like your current sig and text (Flag Runner) along the flag pole.
