I checked out Yyrkoon, they are pretty good. I like most types of metal at the moment. If you are into death then have you heard Nile, i can only describe them as epic with their ancient egyptian influences, they have so much atmosphere in their music -->YouTube - NILE - WHAT MAY BE SAFELY WRITTEN. I like melodeath but like you said the power metal infulences are a bit cheesy. I like bands like Insomnium cos they have kindov doom and progressive style and its so awesome --> YouTube - Insomnium "Mortal Share". Ive just bought The Black Waltz by Kalmah and its brill, i just need to get their latest album to complete the collection! I started out liking thrash and metalcore so bands like metallica and as i lay dying, then i went to melodeath and now im moving into pure death and a bit of Black metal. anyway lol i will "befriend you"

Hey, im liking that you like Opeth! They are such an incredible band. What else do you like. Im into Melodic Death ATM so Bands like insomnium, Kalmah and Arch enemy are my faves, lol BTW im also 17 and play guitar too
