It would have to be a bluetooth keyboard is all.

The backlight is a complete waste of your money...

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

Changes I recommend you make from base product:
      + 1.3 M Web Cam
      + WLED Display
      + 3072 MB RAM
      + 256MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330

      £507.78

Additional changes for a more powerful system:
      + Intel P8600 Processor
      + Vista Premium 64 Bit
      + 4096 MB RAM

      £617.79

Yes it is illegal, but I don't know what the penalty would be. I doubt you'd be arrested, probably given a lift by the police to where you were going and a caution, but don't take my word for it.

Is surface free energy just surface tension?

      Yes.

Is it a force that tries to make the liquid as small as possible?

Not quite, as the volume is the same, but it does resist the increase of surface area of the liquid. The greater the surface energy density of a liquid, the stronger the liquid attempts to minimise its surface area.

So when the magnet is placed under it, the force that repels the liquid has to be greater than the increase in gravitational force and the surface free energy/surface tension created when the liquid stretches vertically?

No, the force would be the same, otherwise there would be resultant force and the liquid woud distort through polarisation even further. The strength of the magnetic field would be proportional to the degree of polarisation. Theoretically I imagine you would be able to completely remove the ferromagnetic particles from the colloid, but I'm not sure what field strength you'd need.

And brownian motion keeps the particles moving but its the surfuctant that keeps them suspended against gravity and not all piled at the bottom of the liquid right?

Yes. Really it's their own kinetic energy + the transferred energy from collisions with other particles. Brownian motion merely describes the behaviour, but you can interchange the terms for brevity.

Yeah, I think it's a pretty good deal for what you seem to want. I checked out your other options from Dell and the only other laptop I could see was the Studio starting at £499. It's not a 64 bit system, but starts with 4GB of RAM.

This is a good article on 64 bit computing

For £30, I personally would go up to 4GB, but it's not the end of the world if you don't. If you're going to be using it on the move, the 9 cell battery is probably more important.

Wall brackets don't cost too much... still a little bit of a rip off though

Alright, that looks fine. With SP1 out Vista 64 is a good option so long as you exploit its ability to utilise over 3GB of RAM. So if you're only getting 3GB, it might not be worth bothering with as you'll still have a little bit less flexibility with legacy drivers etc etc. But considering it's a free upgrade, I'd go for 4GB of RAM for £30 extra. You can install and use open office and save yourself £60 by not getting Microsoft office to cover the cost. Also, I'd highly recommend the 9 cell battery rather than the 6, if you can afford it.

Well first off you'd need a 64 bit processor to run Vista 64. Can you post the full machine stats?
