I used teleporter nodes as braces and an upside down medium energy shield, save quit the merge then went back and gave it a quick grab and release and it raised a tad bit but didn't come all the way out. Worked perfectly this way every time, not sure if it will again though.

I dont either but its NY so i go to cheer for them.
