My poll for this is here. Bungie.net : Halo 3: ODST Forum : Sgt. Johnson ODST Helmet. Good Idea? I think that we should have the option to take away Johnson's cigar if we please, by using the same option to turn on and off ODST helmets. I think it would be muy bueno if we could go around without the cigar, because in photos and films I think Johnson looks much more serious without his cigar. Much cooler with it, but a little off. What do you think? And please vote.
Taking off the ODST's helmet isn't going to happen, nor do I believe his cigar is going to dissapear. I don't think realize the amount of coding they'd have to do just for that little change, it's a toggle. They'd have to practically reanimate Johnson's face.
It's not a massive amount of coding. They take the files, copy them, and re-animate all of the heads without a cigar. Then it's just giving option to toggle. They've already done the same thing for ODST's.
I find smoking very offensive and I believe that my kids will be detrimentally influenced by seeing a popular hero of theirs' smoking a cigar in a video game! Bungie must remove the cigar from the game or I will be forced to sue them for corruption of minors. It is obviously not my responsibility, as a parent, to teach them about the dangers of smoking. Instead, I will put my lack of parenting onto someone else's shoulders and have them change their product to suit my needs!
I feel as though the option would be nice, but not necessary. I'm going to vote yes, just because I like to have more options and think that this one in general is a good one to have. Plus I kinda find it to be pretty dumb to have a character that always smokes a cigar, just not all that impressive to me really, and its really not necessary
You do realise you can toggle the ODST's helmets on and off, right? There are videos from E3 showing it in a Firefight Lobby.
Your case looses in court because the game is rated M for Mature, and your allowing you child to be exposed to that despite the rating's warning.
Cigars are only for badasses and Johnson is a badass, therefore the cigar is a must. You haven't even played the game yet and you are already bitching about it. Bungie is probably going to frown on that.

Bungie would not frown upon a fan who is trying to ask an idea. And BTW, opinion is opinion. Have your own idea, I do not believe the cigar is a must. I'm not even saying to remove the cigar. I am just asking for the option. For people responding to Whisper, I see where your coming from. However, I think Whisper is leaning more towards wanting to be able to play Halo 3 in front of children, instead of having to play in secret while they are not watching. My old teacher has to do that for most of his games that he plays on the computer, and tones down the violence settings when his daughter watches. It's not bad parrenting doing such, just trying to be able to maybe taint a little, but gain a little. I think for that reason it should be allowed to block cigarette as well. However Whisper, I don't think, being as this game is Rated M, that you could sue over it either. I'm interested as how this will play out.
Taking off the ODST's helmet has been confirmed. And to the OP, ODST is already finished. A poll isnt going to change anything.
I'm not sure, I don't think anyone's confirmed Halo 3: ODST has gone Gold. And a simple change is possible. More on topic, I'd rather at least see the opinion of people. If you don't read it as should they do this, read it as wouldn't it be cool if they had done this. But I'm pretty sure ODST is still Beta, and until Gold it can always be changed.
