    Boardwalk

    A new map I just completed that is set up as of now for Slayer, Assault, and Flag. I wanted a summer theme to the map and what better way to show that then to add a Boardwalk to the already sandy surroundings of Sandbox. So if you would like to play a nice, well mad map, give it a download thanks.

    This map looks really cool! I dont normally DL custom slayer maps since I hardly ever play custom slayer games, but I want to check this out. You have my DL. :)

    First thing I think when I see this: YES! A custom map on the ground floor which uses the Banshee!

    Nice, original map idea too, it's good to mix the textures up a bit and keep things fresh which you have done well with the planks.

    I've played a few games on Boardwalk with DP and others, and I have to tell you all how fun I think it is. From the pictures, you can see it's a pretty simple design, but therein lies the beauty. Players very quickly get accustomed to the layout, even though it's pretty unique.

    What's interesting about the variety of encounters I experienced is they seem to occur all over the map. Why? Well, the floor level of the map is like walking through a forest. There are many support columns and other pieces for the actual boardwalk. As a result, players feel comfortable running in almost any direction. This is possibly one of the best uses of space I've seen.

    Of course, there are powerups and power weapons to be had, so these locations experience some obviously weighted fighting. The initial rush usually features one player from each team taking a mongoose to the rockets, another player from each team taking another mongoose to the banshee, and the others fighting over the laser.

    Another interesting thing is, I really didn't notice too much sniping from the dunes. I'll attribute this to the sand really being hog territory. It's a bad idea to take the hog through the center, so if you have one up, it's likely carousing the outer edges of the map. That, and DP has wisely limited the sniper ammunition.

    Overall, the best way I can describe this map is a basic yet unique map with some very interesting architecture that isn't gummed up by unnecessary geometry. I highly recommend you guys check it out.

    Thanks, I really like the way the planks look in maps and decided to use as many as I could in this map. It gives the map some elevation and also keeps the fighting all over the map and not in just one area.

    I think it's safe to say that this is my favorite map from you, DP. Despite the H3ITWP "hate", the map runs really well. I like how infantry aren't completely screwed if they choose to run across the ground level, while at the same time allowed for some great vehicle action. You've come a long way in a really short amount of time in terms of Forging, so big props to you. Can't wait to see what you've got in store for us next.

    im not a huge fan of overlapping wood bridges, but the overall design of the map looks pretty solid. but once again the overlapping wood bridges kinda ruins it for me... they just don't look good interlocked on a level plain.

    Thanks Squid!!! I tried to make something a little different on the Sandbox floor as a lot of players were complaining that every match felt the same. I think having the different levels make the Sandbox level feel different when playing on it.

    I feel like I've seen this before, but nonetheless it's great!

    I never got why Bungie put the boards in the level, rather than bridges. Oh well, they didn't put Open Boxes either!

    Nice job on making a fun map that I think looks appealing to me. Tho only think that I didn't like was the bridge overlapping but thats not a big deal. Good job, worth downloading.

    Originality 3.9/5 I liked your map but it does kinda remind me of the original sandbox due to the two bases and middle structure but I'm not saying that makes your map not worth downloading because I think it is.

    Overall map 4/5 To me it fells like It's a nice team based objective map like capture the flag or Assault. I like how the two bases look different so gameplay changes when you play on a different team. Nice job and looking forward to your next map.

    The only other place you may have seen it it Atlas or Videos of our Custom Fridays matches on B-net.

    I didn't realize people looked down on the wood bridges so much. I like the way they look myself but maybe next map I will try something completely different.

    I honestly don't think this map plays anything like default sandbox either but I guess that is just my opinion.

    dude i TOTALLY pooped on this map last Friday! aw man it was a huuuuge dump. After though, I proceeded to play as normal, and even though it was my first time on the map, I had a lot of fun. It was pretty intuitive and I never got lost (which is a quality i hold pretty high). Great job DP

    I have made a number of spawn changes since the map was first rolled out and seems it has made all the difference in the way the game is played. Having spawns at the different elevations for neutral was throwing off the system some how so I tweeked it a bit to make it run better.

    I have some updated video and pictures I will be putting up as we have ran the map over the last couple Fridays also. Thanks for all the feedback so far. :)
