Finally, for the first time since I've bought halo 3 I've committed myself to making a map. Basically theres a couple of problems though. For one I suck at rotating and placing objects straight, the other being that I'm a perfectionist when it comes to placing objects and in about an hour and a half of work I've placed about 12 double boxes (all interlocked) which have started to make the map boundaries Couple this with the fact that the most I can work with this god forsaken terrible map editor is an hour, and I get easily frustrated and you can easily conclude that this will be one epic undertaking. I swear to you when this thing does come out is that it will be f**king awesome even if it doesn't end up that complex. Just wait...
Well if you can't admit that forge is a inadequate map editor than you're not too smart, to make a decent map you have to use glitches. Not to mention there's no standard snap to 90 degree feature. Yeah, but make no mistake I'm an awful forger, which is why this project will be so epic.
no I do not believe forge is inadequate but I do believe your puny mind is inadequate to get decent with the simple process of making maps, no one cares about your epic soon to fail map if its any good, great job but more likely when it sucks go learn to forge.
Congrulations 3 of your 15 posts are now flaming osmeone,i hope your happy. Forge is by no means a perfect system,if you look at how accurate you can make map making on say computers(google sketchup cna give you an idea since you tpe in how big the shape should be) Oh and simple my left mcnugget, clearly YOUR inadequite mind has never tried to merge something into the map accurately. And if you werent lving under a rock you'd know there were plenty of custom made halo 1 and two maps. Halo one maps were done on the pc custom edition while maps were modded and sent to map equivalents of youtube.By adding forge bungie simply cut out the middle man and made these things availible to everyone Now to say something constructive. Glad to see a fellow f00b (forge n00b ) commiting themselves I've recently done the same thing, don't worry if you fail epically use the experience to get good at rotating things etc and try not to bee TOO much of a perfectionist, like advice its best in small doses. For instance if a map merged tunnel is a little twisted like on my current map it's probly best to leave it since some techniques take "tricky" to a whole new level. And if you do get stuck dont worry uing the shoutbox you can easily get fellow hubbites to give you a hand and teach you a trick or two to make the going easier, waiting patiently, Supa Midget
Umm who the **** are you? You're clearly one of the bungie dipshits who doesn't know what he's ****ing talking about. Have you ever used a real map editor before? Normally blocking of a section of a map and having it look tidy would take about 2 minutes with any normal map editor, but with forge it takes like a half an hour at least to make it inescapable. Where are your maps anyway? You clearly are lacking in knowledge of how a competent map editor works. This wasn't about a thread about how I dislike forge, but thanks for turning it into that. Way to gay up this thread ******. End flaming rant/ Thank you for the advice, I'll remember that.
Lol I didn't want to post until someone else, other than you two fighting, posted. Basically what midget said..don't be too much of a perfectionist..usually if a wall isn't too straight, a few things around it will make it unnoticable. Lots of times you can hide mistakes (like holes in your floor, or cracks in your wall line) after your structure is made. I just finished going over one my most prided maps stick extra boxes or walls in where there are tiny cracks. That way you don't have to worry too much about getting perfectly aligned the first time, and wasting three hours doing so. It's much more fun to just make a map, and tidy it up after. This isn't to say "leave everything until the end" because screwing around too much will eff up something good. Anyways, I havn't released anything yet do to fear of epic failure, so I'm being a perfectionist now in hopes of eliminating people saying "theres a hole here". Now I just hope im original enough. Happy forging
Some people don't understand that all these maps made on forge hub, and are good, took more time then some people can fathom. Forging is something that takes, time, precision and perseverance. You could say that a map is going to be awesome, but you need to take your time and you have to publish something that is not anything less then your best. Put simply -Take your time -Try your hardest
If you havent noticed forge is not exactly an map editor as you can only place objects not change the geometry and you all need to calm the **** down its a game.
lol if you think blocking someone is is that hard your retarded there are many ways to keep people out of unwanted area without wasting your time. (depends on area) also were not even talking about other map editor programs were talking about forge so why don't you get your fingers out of your ass and make your "EPIC" map
Why dont you quite bitching for ten minutes and we'll remove the stick out of yours Forging IS a map editor okay,it wasnt so much before foundry came along but on foundry it definately is. Its tricky to make maps escape proof thanks to the item limits and the budget and the 100 max item limit. We were pointing out forge is not the most perfect map BY COMPARISON to other map makers in other games.Seriously if you can't cop the logic in that one then slam your head against your desk and get those electrons moving becuase you my friend have a problem. Take your misguided crap somewhere that someone will listen and stop clogging up a topic that hit the lightz will no doubt use later to get help with his map with your idiotic hate speech Oh and by the way gratz on double posting
