I am interested in getting a gaming headset and was wondering if I get the Astro Gaming A40's but I know they are good for Halo but how about other shooters like Call of Duty and etc. Same with the Tritton AX Pros. Anyone have any insight?
Not sure if you've looked at the turtle beaches. I have them and I personally think they are pretty sick. They work especially great for Cod, you can hear footsteps amazingly well. Also they are fairly comfortable. You could also probably get a good deal on them on like ebay or something. But for the astros and Ax pros, I'm not sure.
I know alot about headsets, but to make this quick: If you can use alot of wires and your Xbox has an optical connection (all but the oldest 360s), get the Tritton AX Pro (it's the one I currently use) If you go to LANs alot or play with friends who will also get the same headset, get the Astro A40 System. If you need a wireless solution, Turtle Beach X4. Best one overall IMO: Trittons. I've tried em all and you get the best bang for your buck...of course it plays all games in 5.1 surround, the main advantage to the others being that it has 4 speakesr in each ear, instead of the Astro and Turtle Beach that actually have 1 but use smart technology to trick your ears. It's a subtle difference but I far prefer the speakers.
Yes, I mainly play halo with them. My only problem would probably be that they do get a little hot after a while.
this is what i have they work really good plus they look cool GI SGS Xbox 360 Headset [SMGIBX-34] : Skullcandy
I have a Turtle Beach X4, and I love it. The surround sound is sweet, and the batteries last a fair decent length, and they are comfortable.
I have the newer Pro version of the 360 (60GB HDD) and does that have an optical port? Also can the Tritton's only be used on the 360?
I recently purchased the turtle beach x1's. It was the best thing I ever did. The sound is amazing! I've actually gotten better at games like COD, Halo, and Far Cry 2 because I can hear everything. The x1's are great because they're cheap and work for xbox 360 and pc as well. They're 59.99 i believe. they are wired, but I got over that after using them the first time.
I would suggest on getting some sort of gaming headset. I just got my own pair of Turtle Beach X1's they are amazing... I much rather wearing those over the lame ones you get with your xbox. Personally if you are okay with wires then get a wired pair, since they are more reliable and much cheaper. If you go with Turtle Beach X1's you can buy them in some stores (Bestbuy/futureshop and I have heard some other stores carry them) Video Games & Toys: Xbox 360: Turtle Beach Earforce X1 Headphones (XBOX 360) | Best Buy Canada Web Store <-- that is Canadian store seeing as I'm Canadian Hope I helped
You can look for it, but I think it does. It will work without it but you get the maximum sound quality with it. It's a small port on your TV connecting thingy...google it. Trittons can be used on practically anything other than the Wii. 360, PS3, surround systems, PC, and so on. Pretty much anything with an audio jack, and there's wires included for it.
I've got X-1's, and I agree that they're infinitely better than the standard headsets. I will say that my X-1's are not massively durable, they broke from being put in my bag when I came back from Uni. It's true that I probably could have been a little more careful in the way I packed the bag, but I hardly trashed them, and overall build quality isn't great imo. They are a true revelation after using standard headsets for ages, they blew me away at first, but I'm realising more and more that a lot more can be done if you shell out a bit more. The sound is very bass heavy and can't be changed since there's no EQ option, it gets a bit annoying at times tbh, especially in terms of voice communication since clarity drops for the same volume compared to even a standard Xbox headset. Though, there is one main thing to be said for the X-1's, in that they're a great entry level gaming headset, pretty much the only option if you're not willing to shell out more than £50 (or whatever that translates to in dollars). But if you're going for the whole hog with a real high quality gaming headset and aren't too hung up about not having wireless, then I'd say that Turtle Beach aren't the best option, but if you want an entry level gaming headset, then X-1's are a good choice. I'm personally buying AX-Pro's when I can get the money together, they look like the best option by my count, and Insane certainly talks their praises a lot .
Last time I checked you had to buy them from the Astro store and get them shipped here from the US, very expensive on top of the high price, plus all the import taxes etc. that are involved. Though this was a little while ago, and I remember them saying somewhere that they were looking in to a UK distributor, dunno if this went anywhere.
I think it would be great to have a headset. My family shout on me alot to do tasks around the house and if I dont answer they blame it on the Xbox so that gets taken off me. But I think it would really be useful. Especially in MLG.
