If you think that you need technical knowledge to have an opinion on what is aesthetically pleasing then you really need to think things through a little more. That or just start thinking in the first place, either is good tbh.
Yes, while what you said is technically correct I do have to disagree with it. While something may be aesthetically pleasing to an untrained eye, it may be fairly basic and ugly to someone that knows a lot about such art. And example? Lets say you walk up to a stream. There's animals beside it, and a small rainbow at the bottom of a small fall. Now, one person takes out their Kodak eleven dollar camera and just snaps a picture. Is this picture pretty? Yes. Is it aesthetically pleasing? Perhaps. Now, lets say that someone with a trained eye comes in. He notices where the best angle would be, he works with the light, and he waits for the perfect moment to snap a picture with a high dollar camera. He then polishes up the picture using some sort of software before publishing it. Is this picture pretty? Yes, almost undoubtedly it is going to be prettier than the first. So, yes I can see where Frag man is coming from. Keep in mind this is all my opinion of course, and I would most likely be the man with the kodak.
Ugh, here we go again in the FH gfx forum... The sig is odd. Some posts are wrong, the only large pieces that have focals are the pieces who actually have a render to make a focal. My large pieces are usually scenery and don't have focals, no big deal.

Aesthetically pleasing is the same as pretty, just a more complicated way of saying it. Whilst I do see where you're coming from, I (like you) have to disagree. Whilst a technical knowledge of the subject can change your opinion on what is attractive or not, it doesn't make that opinion more or less valid than another person's. Like Shanon says, appreciation of art is wholly subjective, thus there is no wrong or right, only different opinions. As far as CnC goes, I see the merit of knowledge of the subject in that, whilst I maintain that my uninformed reception of a piece is just as valid as one swamped with knowledge, advice on how to change, improve or achieve desired results is always going to be more useful when coming from someone who knows what they are doing in this field. But, if I'm honest, I'd actually prefer to have an uninformed perspective, since you don't come at things with an eye guided by knowledge. You react to it completely aesthetically, not steered by what is hard, or what is established technique. You either like it or you don't, based only on what you see, and appreciation of art should be based on what you see, not what you know. But, once again, no opinion of aesthetic can be more or less valid than another, that's the whole point of an opinion. You don't think that telling someone they are outright wrong on what is, once again, an opinion isn't spam? Head: remove from ass. Also, I don't have to call you a hypocrite, you've basically done that yourself. Though you do make one good point, in that I responded to your post without any actual CnC. For that I do apologise, though certainly not to you. I am, however, willing to rectify this, unlike certain people. My opinion is that it is indeed rather brash and busy, and does little for me.
A reason why he could call you a hypocrite is beacause you seem to be freaking out over nothing. yeah, awkward could have gone and not called you a ****, but then theres no need to go and throw a huge virtual temper tantrum around a bunch of people that dont give a **** about how pissed you are. calm the **** down, its a CnC thread, not a back and forth arguement thread, i would look in the debates or off topic to do this, but better off not behaving like a 6 year old at all, like I always say. and if this continues, I vote for this to be stickied and locked to show people how not post in the GFX section.
