Hello everyone, I have been reading some things about drop spawns, and I'd like to know what excactly they are and what purpose they serve. I do have an idea about what drop spawns are, and I know that they have something to do with MLG, but I'd like to know exactly what they are.
Basically, you spawn in the air above the map, and you fall down onto the map. The idea is that it would eliminate spawn killing. However, I've always found that it just confuses the players more and more. Related: weapons spawning in the air and falling onto the map. In my opinion, it plays much nicer when you just pick up the weapon that lays on the ground. Unless you're trying to go for a ODST drop pod theme, then don't do drop spawns. Instead, work on making your spawning areas and zones better for gameplay.
Drop spawns are weapon spawns that have been heightened off the ground. MLG does this to both the sniper and rockets, and on Guardian, the mauler. What this does is spawn the weapon in the air and starts it respawn clock there. Differing from Bungie's default weapon timing, whenever the user dies or drops the weapon the respawn clock starts. Anyways, what it does is make it so the weapon respawns at set intervals. The sniper every 2 and a half minutes, rockets every 3. EDIT: Lawl Nemi fail ^
I was actually wondering about the weapons drop spawn, why would someone spawn a weapon in mid-air that drops to the ground when you could position it much nicer when you don't. And you can't edit a weapon when it's teardrop is in the air, you only can edit it when you happen to press x when it's falling. EDIT; Lawl, I was taking such a long time to type this, I already got the answer, thanks. so to be straight, a sniper/rocket/mouler spawns, and if nobody takes it, it despawns in 30 seconds, and then you'll have to wait for anoter 2/3 minutes to pick it up.
