    Christian means 'Little Christ'
The core belief of Christianity is to follow Christ.
Therefore, to be a true Christian, you must be a Jew.

Telling Me to "shut up" doesn't help your argument or make me feel the need to be quiet. I also don't want you to not answer me because I would have no one to dissagree with . I didn't say directly that God was not pure I said Jesus was not pure"the son of God" I was stating that he is human and that makes Jesus un pure not "God" . Jesus is the savior but I don't consider him a god. Hes more of a magic man who likes to tell storys and was executed for it. Crazy people were executed regularly in ancient times but he was able to make a good story and have people follow him.

Yes not all of the conflics in the middle east are completely connected with Religion but they all have ties with them. Dieing for Allah or anouther god for them obviously means something to them and if there enemy choose to resist them by not giving them the Holy land or not showing them respect then they resort to conflic more times than not. If you can't show me some conflics in the middle East not attributed to Religion then you need to do some deeper research.
Also death by video games is caused by mental illness by "gamer" and he causes violence from a certain situation. This situation is issolated and has no real effect of the world. Now if somehow the gamer started a war then ya religion had nothing to do with it as long as the gamer didn't see video games as a form of religion. [some people do its sad]

Now God creating sin I say this because he create angels and angels have a bad side to them. Lucifer happened to be one powerful mistake and Gods are not supposed to make mistakes but in this case he did. He didn't dirrectly mean it but it happend and he is to blame . Why didn't he erase satan? Was Satan to powerful for "God"? I don't believe god would punish something so evil as Satan I think It would make more sense remove him so there would be no sin and no evil.

You seem to be taking this personaly Im making observation and asking questions. If you don't like them don't answer you seem to be avoiding a majority of mine so far as is. Oh and I did care about church until I realised that our donation money was going to our priest cheap whores :] Don't you just love how representatives of Christianity carry them selves. lol
I understand your agrivation if that is what Im noticing but you should understand that im just looking at what I see. Perhaps I need some holy glasses to show me the lght since I do not see anything holy.

Sorry for the long read you probably can skim its simple in some parts.

I don't choose to believe in any of them. I choose to believe in the general idea. It's the whole story concept... remember? It's not an encyclopedia.

That's why you go to church. To be forgiven. That's why Jesus came. To forgive. God may have seemed harsh, but he does forgive.

If the bible is such an accurate reflection of God and Jesus, then how can you not believe EVERYTHING that is written?

Isn't it a little hypocritical to believe in the bible "through faith", then ignore sections at whim?

God doesn't exist, so I don't go to church. God may seem harsh, but he doesn't exist.

I don't choose random sections to believe in. I simply believe in a modern sort of Bible... and that some parts of the Bible have multiple meanings.
And you must be the most narrow minded kid on the face of this planet. Congratulations.

I pretty much said the exact opposite of what you said. You claimed that Jesus was sent (obviously stating a belief in god). So why is it when you believe in god it's "cute" but when I state my disbelief in a factual, finite manner, i'm "narrow minded".

Well, your total stubbornness shined through right at the point of, "God doesn't exist, so I don't go to church". Wow, great theological mind right here. Great backup too.

Isn't that a bit like saying that you can ignore the Constitution because the 3rd Amendment is outdated?

And doesn't self-interpretation of the Bible effectively lead to multiple clouded and incoherent thought trains about Christianity? Oh wait, nevermind.

That's funny, I thought the purpose of church was to perpetuate idiocy, and to coddle people so that they think "If I do nice things, i'll live forever (in heaven)". Let's not forget about the donation plate.

I'm open minded enough to consider religion, and smart enough to realise god doesn't exist. When I get new evidence, then I will re-evaluate my belief, not before.

    Where's your backup for:

Is it the bible? It's a shame you didn't selectively ignore that part of the bible too.

No, it's a bit like finding a stick and two rocks. You're given the materials, but can you find what to do with them? Kind of like finding the true/second meaning of something.
I'm not self-interpreting anything. The Christian religion is to be made up of a community and carried out as one too. There's close to no room for individuality when it comes to "making" rules or interpreting things.

    bible language

You are without a doubt self interpreting the bible through selective belief. The bible is supposed to be the word of god to Christians, but as we have progressed as a species and become more intelligent and more aware of the universe around us, many passages in the bible just don't make any sense. Other passages are just plain morally wrong as we have pointed out.

What is a Christian to do? Here's what they do. They come up with elaborate apologies for the bible, either saying that certain sections aren't important or no longer apply. They couple this with metaphoric interpretation, saying that 7 Days really equals 4 billion years in bible language. The extent that Christians have to bend over backwards to make their 2000 year old religion fit into modern times is just amazing. They are like contortionists.

If whole sections of the bible don't apply, if other sections are metaphorical and cannot be taken literally, if there is no room for self interpretation like you claim............then who decides what the bible actually means? Who decides what is real and what gets tossed out? Who makes sense of the metaphors? How can you pick what you want to, and throw out or change the rest? Sadly, you have to do that or the entire thing comes crashing down.

The point of it was to say, "How do you know the parts of the bible you want to believe in are right?" Not "Christianity is right".

I used to be really interested in keeping up to date with this thread but after a few months I've realized the cycle...

    1. Somebody says something and expects it to end the debate/thread because they back it up with things they know themselves as facts and quotes, logic and reason, opinion and guessing.

    2. Somebody points out all faults of that post and then adds in their side with their version of how things work.

    3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 until somebody else says something that doesn't directly have anything to do with what was said, it is then either instantaneously attacked or supported, again repeat steps 1 and 2 on slightly different topic with new people.

    4. Break off into meaningless banter over something said.

    5. Somebody gets fed up with the stupidity and restarts the cycle.

Like i said, if you watch and really pay attention you will agree with me.
(I bet I will be quoted and harassed for being completely wrong and we will then be at step 3)

No. you're actually completely right. but that's the nature of many debates where neither side can ever truly "win." combine that with the concept of internet debates and it really is just rather predictable.

What's "morally wrong" has changed over time. I don't honestly take any part of the Bible completely literally (besides maybe the four accounts of Jesus). I think there's always multiple meanings. Just like story books, you read a child's book or something, and you get the meaning at the end. We aren't taking one passage and saying that's wrong, we're taking the outcome of the entire story.

Just remember, you can be forgiven for wrong acts.
I said close to no room, meaning yes, individuals make up a group. Individuals may come up with ideas, but only a group can "pass" that idea.

Jesus Christ on a stick people. 232 pages of debating on god? xD Congrats, you all get a cookie. Now for my.. three cents.

Being.. an Atheist. I find that most people actually take another glance at me and call me different. I may be different. But in all honesty. Am I just the same as anyone else? Just with a different view on things?

Now "god" as most like to call the entity that about 60% of the earth believes in, is just another tale to keep people welcomed, to keep them secure about themselves, to make things easier.

Honestly, I don't judge others based on their views. As long as they don't bestow their beliefs on me. Lets have another drink.

So. Now to life. To me. Life is life. One chance to live it. If you die young, you die young. If you die old. You die old. Everyone lives their life differently. That's the way I see it. I don't mess with politics, or religion because of my simple belief. And that is, live life for what it is, not what it isn't or could be. Live it up to the fullest that you can make life live up to.

Thank you ladies and gents for reading my rather... idiotic rant. Enjoy those cookies. =^,.,^=

Thats given that you have the chance to do so. Just look at the story of Hamlet where Hamlet senior is murdered and was not given the chance t be forgiven. He then burns in hell forever because of this. So if someone doesn't have the chance to get forgiveness like in this story they will be punished?
