Woo I got the coveted penguin asassin review! And maybe I'll consider adding mongooses...haha =P As for adding a roof on the middle of the structure, no way! I love the way the open roof feels. Plus, like you said, it opens up opportunities for crazy grenade skills. But I havent mastered any cool throws yet... And I think the oversheild drop downs are fine. I don't want them being over used with that OS being down there. Oh, and you mentioned a regenerator. I took that out of the final version a put a bubble shield on bottom middle. And no, I'm not adding a banshee lol
Nice interlocking and layout, but it overall just.. looks... bland. It's just brown. I think you should add more fx at least or some sort of aesthetics to make it more eye pleasing. I do, however, like the blue flag area because of it's shadow.. Just a quick fix, I think. Otherwise it looks pretty kewl.
Granite Basin received another Map Database review by AgileDan! If you would like to check it out, click here. I also included it on the front page along with the review by MickRaider. To address the breakablity issue discussed in AgileDan's review, I will say this: It is not a problem because it requires the use of at least three team members, and it also requires a betrayal to preform the rocket jump. It would be very difficult to do this in a game
HOLY -blam!- TO MANY F---IN PITURE IT TOOK ME FIVE MINUTES TO GET TOO THE BOTTOM!!!!!! But yeah, this is an awesome map. Some of the Weapons have too many clips, but I have only seen one perfect map. And the link to it is broken =(
OMG Gunner, you never cease to amaze me with your amazing forgings, as well as your sophisticated, informative map posts. map geometry? i would not have bothered to put in that much effort into my map posts. the map itself is amazing, the leveled areas, I have never seen a skybubble map like this before, you used items in ceryain ways i have never seen on sandbox before, but it turned out to be amazing. The turrets seem like they may be a little bit overpowered, especialy when made portable. ORIGINALITY I cannot compare the layout or any other sandbox map ever made. Therefore I give it a: 9.5/10 AestheticsThey are amazing, running along with a forerunner like theme, all very well executed. I give it a:9.75/10 I will get back to you on how it plays, I believe you sent me a message linking to the map download, so I will. looking forward to playing, for now i give the overall rating of a: 9.75/10
Thanks ROLFninja! I was hoping to test with you, but you have been pretty busy lately it seems. So your review is all based on looks corrects? I'm gonna make you come back here and give your gameplay review as well ya know =P And for those of you who thought an MLG version of the map would be better, I have one forged and tested (I tested it with some five star generals who said it did not play like MLG. But everyone else seemed to enjoy it). I don't think I will put it up in the map post, because the default version of the map is much better (in my opinion at least). But if you'd like to try it out, I'll leave it in my fileshare for a few weeks
wow gunnergrunt you amazed me with gold rush but i have to say this is twice as good as gold rush i did a forge through of it the other day and the map is perfect in every way it is the smoothest map i have ever been on and has the coolest layout i have seen for a while. The gameplay looks like it would play good but i cant try it out because i got the RROD. But i love the map and everything in it great job 10/5 from me and i will try and get this featured because about half your maps deserve a feature. Keep on forging and making maps that amaze the community.
It's kinda cool how the ground is uneven at many points. However, the map is very bumpy at times. Also, there are a lot of strange window type things that seem to be pointless. Also, I escaped this map very easily and got in a spot that would be detrimental to gameplay. I could of had a team mate toss me the flag and then drop it right where the return is. For these things, I give the map a 7.2/10
Would you care to explain where and how you escaped the map? Because I'm not too convinced.... Even if you did, I don't think there are any spots you could toss the flag from capture point to capture point like that. AgileDan mentioned a way to reach a top part the map, but he had to use three people to do it, and it was at the cost of a betrayal. I really don't think you could do it any other way.
tthis map is nothing short of amazing, i have always been a fan of gunnergrunts maps, but this one just blew me out of the water, i love the pics and the turret and i never calculated the turret coverage i guess i have to now, great map 5/5
Thanks man! Glad to hear that! Yeah, most people look at the turret and assume if covers more than it actually does. That's why i threw in that picture of the turrets coverage. Even after all the games i've played on this map, i still think the turret is fair and balanced. The map doesn't function quite as well without it! Alright here is another video. This one shows a full game of multiflag (3v3) YouTube - Granite Basin Multiflag
I've loved all the maps that you have made but this one is your best so far imo. I played a 2 vs 2 with my brother and friends and we had a blast considering my brother hates competitive maps and he still loved it. The turrets worked perfectly fine and i didn't have issues with them, i didn't even get shot by them although thats because i only went through the middle if i was getting my flag back or for the overshield. Can't wait to see your next map and i hope you make another competitive one.
