Sandbox Foundry Remake

for one whats the point of a foundry remake?

Dude, pointless remake is pointless. Seriously. And to be honest, for an aesthetic map, it really looks nothing like the original Foundry.
For a remake, you have to stick to the original. If you wanted to capture Foundry's look and feel, I'm afraid you haven't done it as well as you could've. Still, points for making a remake of a map we already have.

From the pics I thought to myself that this doesn't look much like a remake. The game play might be interesting so I don't know what i think right now. I mean, since you were going for a Foundry remake, and this doesn't look to much like foundry, I don't think you accomplished your goal. Straying away from it being a foundry remake, it looks like a pretty good map. Not to bad of a job there.

 

The map could use a ton of cleaning and scrapping. I can easily tell that this isn't the best Foundry remake. And like others said, why spend time in remaking a free or Pre DLC map? I've seen remakes of guardian... What's the freaking point? Invest your time in another map, make something creative and original. Also, make a good description for the next map you make. Proclaiming that your new is not a good excuse.

 

i cant really see why someone would make a remake of foundry...good job? i dont want to douche the concept (other than the fact that its pointless) but you cant really remake foundry without fencewalls because they have a big impact on lines of sight and gameplay.

 

its a good attempt, but making a forge based map remake which is really just an empty map on another forge based map is pointless. remake a map from another game or halo 1 or 2. not a map that everybody hated to get during matchmaking since the default foundry blows

 

One time I remade foundry on foundry. Seriously though whats the point of remaking a map thats on the game you remade it on. It would be like having a Apple pie but you tried to make another one before you finished the first one. A few parts could be a little cleaner.

 

Since you have such a stronge opinion on making a remake of a map we already have...what would you consider Block out. Isnt that just like black out, a map we already have. And it got featured. To me your opinion isnt really holding up to much.

To the map, I do have to say you tried your best. There are some parts of foundry you cant really recap. Like the crain, the looks of foundry, and some of the peices. So what im trying to say is that foundry is its own self. It cant really be re-built on sandbox because of foundrys unique looks. But honestly hated foundry...lol. But good attempt.

 

Sandbox (crypt) is way to big for foundry remakes.
We saw it with Onslaught (Foundry Ons = Best. Map. Ever. ...Sandbox Ons = Fail)
We saw it with Amp (F Amp = Cool Ma, Bad H3 Spawnsystem ... S Amp = Hard Fail)
We saw it with Foundry (F Foundry = Fail ... S Foundry = Fail)

+ I Dont get the pint of Remakes, most of them look a littlebit like the original map (Mage, Blockout ...) and play like crap (Mage, Blockout)

But nice try, why dont you try to make a own map?

Uhh, you posted the same pic about 3 times. I don't know if it was an accident but ya. You posted the same pic three times.

 

No Blockout isn't Blackout. It's Ascension from Halo 2. Ascension is much better than Blackout. Blockout is a better remake of Ascension than Blackout. Anyhow the map is sloppy and does not remind me of Foundry. But whats the point anyhow. Why don't you make a more original map next time.

Including text on explaining where the screenshots are take (eg. side B Sniper Tower) or something is very useful for someone using your thread. It took me about a minute to figure out where each of the screenshots were supposed to represent. Considering this is your first(i assume) posted map on forgehub, I am going to say that you did a decent effort. If you keep forging, and searching around the site, you will find some very useful tips on how to make your maps look and play better.

For a first map post i'm going to give you an 8/10. Solid effort, and ps. don't take note of the people who slammed your work. Constructive critisicm is encouraged, but driving people near the brink of crying isn't.

 

I think its alittle hard to do a remake on sandbox because it won't look. Foundry is like all metal stuff and if you it on sandbox it comes out rocky nice attempt though.

 

Blockout absolutely is a remake of Blackout. It looks nothing like Ascension in he slightest. If you can't tell that Blockout is not an Ascension remake then you have no place commenting on how close his remake came to the original, and you may need to see an optician. I think his comment about Blockout is perfectly relevant here too. There is nothing wrong with attempting remakes, and it appears you did a decent job recreating Foundry with the objects available in Sandbox. The problem is that it's best to remake a map that is loved by the community. While Foundry is a great map for forging, it is probably one of the most vetoed maps in matchmaking in it's default layout. Even if you nailed the remake perfectly, not many people really like Foundry to begin with. Nice attempt though.

 

Blockout was a remake of Lockout, and fulfilled everything that Blackout lacked as a Lockout remake.

 

Ya but block out acually was an EXACT remake of blackout. This... not so much. Also, blackout was perfect for a remake because it really had no special objects. Foundry has fense walls in it and you cant make fense walls in sandbox. But I do agree with you. If blockout wasnt a perfect remake we wouldnt be having this conversation! I personaly dont like remakes of maps we already have. Very very pointless. Its like getting a new family dog thats the same as the old one, when the old ones still alive.

As for the map goes
Your angle of pictures makes it so I cant even see all your map. But of what I can see is that its not neat at all.
It does LOOK like foundry but it wont PLAY like foundry. If you want to have a map that PLAYS like foundry, you have to play ON foundry.

1. Stop flaming the guy, ****, this could be his FIRST map you know? And, i think its actually GOOD for a first?

2.Yay! Foundry on Sandbox! The tiniest Sandbox map, now available on the real Sandbox! What the hell are you talking about? Foundry is much BETTER then sandbox in my opinion, its smaller so it isnt so intimidating to new forgers.

3. Give me a link to your first map. No link? Looks like someone is embarrased to show his map.... why? Its probably no better then this.

Hey and to you, nice map, unfortunetely its not that good of a remake, however, i think it might be good to play on, nonetheless. If you make a remake, try to block off the part where foundry ends, because it will keep players from straying off. Oh, and put 2 doubleblocks on top of eachother so people who arent noobs dont grenade jump over the wall to piss everyone off. I couildnt make anything like this, so ive got to give you credit, because its better then what i could do.
