Edited by Pegasi Delta With the upgrade to vBulletin 3.8 comes a new and easier way to embed videos within your posts here at Forge Hub. Simply surround the link to your video with [noparse] and [/noparse] tags as you would to make any other url in to a link, like this: [noparse]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BxBt-ucFLc[/noparse] Or, as long as the "Automatically parse links in text" and "Automatically embed media" boxes are checked, which they are by default, then you should be able to just post a direct link to the video and it will automatically generate the code to embed the video when you click post. It couldn't be easier. Video links will automatically turn in to embedded videos rather than just a regular link as normal with [noparse] and [/noparse] tags, as long as the video site is supported. If not they will simply act as a standard link to the url. To my knowledge, only Youtube and Vimeo are supported at this early stage, but more widespread support has been promised soon. The Video embedding tags have changed along with the upgrade of the vB forum software, the below information is no longer accurate. Embedding Videos: There are two ways to embed youtube videos. The Easy Way: Check the "Use Goldbrick Video Options" checkbox Paste Youtube video where you want it in the post The Advanced Way: Click "New Thread" at the top of the page Scroll down to the bottom of the page Check the "Use Goldbrick Video Options" checkbox New options will appear, Fill the title in as neccessary For the size use 425x355 Paste the url of the youtube video you wish to embedd at the bottom of your post Just like magic it has been embedded to the site. If you have any more questions please ask in this thread. They will all be compiled into a FAQ and placed in this post. -Donuts
Terrible The new video posting method is terrible, sorry. Much better and user friendly when you simply had to click one tab to post a video. It's fine after you figure it out,but less computer savvy people will have a hard time at first I am sure.
Can't you just use the "Hyperlink" (Or is it Insert Link?) button? I embedded a video like that, when i just wanted to put in a link.
I think just putting the link in the thread will embed it. Let me check. http://youtube.com/watch?v=3AdFA6WWJ7E Edit: Yes it automatically embeds.
yes, it's not embedded. Can we please get the [youtube] tags back, please? I mean, since bbcode just parses specific tags into html, just have it parse [youtube] into youtube's embed html code.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ly0YnSBpQQ&feature=related Wow, do what nitrous said... this is much easier than the youtube tags 1. Click use goldburg or whatever 2. paste youtube link in DONE. ****ING EASY.
thnks i was thinking about puting a vid in my new map but i was not looking forward to tweaking around and/or get complaints saying it isnt working, thnks
i cant embb my video because i already posted the map. it wont let you turn on goldbrick in advanced edit mode
When i edit threads ('go advanced'), the goldbrick option isn't there. Is that not an option to edit in videos?
YouTube - Sandbox map Serenity I've heard you had to use [ media ] video here [ /media ] is that how you embed videos or am i missinformed. if someone cold post an example that would be realy helpfull. I'm trying to get the above video to embed. If some one could check to see what im doing wrong i would be greatfull. Edit: I'm also hearing you can only embed videos on the first try at posting your map is this true?
1. Make sure you use [noparse][/noparse] tags around the video URL - it does not need to be hyperlinked - just the URL text. 2. Make sure you are using the full editor (Go Advanced) - if you edit inline, the video won't embed properly. You can edit in videos at any time. Example from link in post above: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQAwUbr4shU
Oh ok kool. I was always wondering how to do it. glad i came into this section of the forum. How do you do it from other sites though?
