Alright so it's time to roll up your sleeves and get into some debates!
This time the topic will be Starcraft vs. Halo.

    The categories are:

    Overall
What is the overall better series?

    Characters
Which series' main characters are better?

    Military
Which series has better military construction?

    Storyline
Which series has a more original/intricate storyline?

    Believeability
    Which series is more realistic?

To make it easy for you to think about the debate, think of the teams not only as Halo vs. Starcraft, but Race from Halo vs. Race from Starcraft:
    UNSC vs. Terran
    Covenant vs. Protoss
    Flood vs. Zerg

    _______________________________________________________________________________

I'll start off by giving one point for each:

    Overall
-Halo was a revolutionary to First Person Shooter games
-Starcraft was the first RTS to introduce 3 even races to fight with

    Characters
-The Halo mains show true heroism as they all enter the grit of the fight
-The Starcraft mains show lots of character and emotion as they continue on in their fight for universal supremacy

    Military
-Halo sports a wide range of vehicles and weapons to outfit yourself with
-Starcraft has three races of units to combine and attack with

    Storyline
-Halo has an original, detailed storyline with lots of twists and turns
-Starcraft has a very deep, intricate storyline that never ceases to amaze

    Believeability
-Halo uses lifelike weapon design and puts life into all aspects of itself
-Starcraft uses common sense and present day thinking to craft itself into what it is

Although I like the time you put into this topic, this just isn't a debatable one. It's even in the rules that opinions can't be a debate.

    /facepalm
if every debate that just ran on opinion wasn't in here, we'd have ourselves a dead forum...
    Creation vs. Evolution - Opinions...
    God - Same as above...
What happens after death? - yet again, opinions
    2012 - Oh, look! Opinions!
The best form of government - some more opinions...
Photobucket vs. Haloscreenshots - It even has a poll in it... come on...
    Need I continue?

Having played both for hours upon hours of time I think I can share a well structured opinion here...

This is actually quite debatable, as they are very related, but we'll see how that goes. I'll be cheap and use the starting categories...

    Characters (Starcraft)

Halo has a few intricate characters, but you never really grow to know them, especially since John is almost mute the entire game. However, in Starcraft, you feel a sense of attachment towards the main cast, where you have to fight to literally protect them in some of the missions.

    Military (Starcraft)

Not even sure if this is a proper category, but I'll try.

Halo might have a nice military, but its barely presented in any of the games, therefore I'd give Starcraft the cake... this should be an easy one.

    Storyline (Halo)

Halo has a great storyline, but its really only present in the books. Most of the time spent playing the actual games isn't held too deeply to the storyline except for a few memorable instances. Starcraft is one RTS that has a large focus on story, the cinematics are great and it was very immersive, but the entire Halo story seems to go deeper than Starcraft's. We'll just have to see how Starcraft 2 plays out and then I'll be able to make a better opinion, but for now Halo wins.

    Believability (none)

I don't thinkanyone can very properly judge on this. I can see Starcraft becoming more plausible by logic, but Halo has its points. For example, in Starcraft, a race called the Xel'Naga was responsible for creating the Protoss and Zerg, which would make sense because the chances of those races becoming super advanced and spontaneous would be very unlikely. As for Halo, it almost seems just as likely, but the origins of some of the other races is unknown. I'll have to go with Starcraft on this one.

    Overall

If the two main differences between Starcraft and Halo weren't appalling enough and you see past the ignorance where the categories given don't relate to that, you can make a fairly good judgment based on logical fact. However, overall, there can't be a proper judgment. A story from an RTS can be just as good as an FPS, but you can't fully discern one game better than one different, but there can be outliers.

All debates and arguments are based on opinions, correct?

I guess all those locked threads and infractions should be forgiven. Or else.

I agree that this section is loaded with bullshit "debates", but that doesn't justify another one. Halo vs. Starcraft? The two are not comparable. Furthermore, you just said this is opinion based, therefore making it a discussion.

This is better off in General Chat next time, and meanwhile I'll see if I can get a mod to move this.

EDIT: And for the record, half of the "things to debate" is similar to pulling a ball out of thin air. Which is more realistic? Honestly, that is making a bigger deal over something it is completely useless. At the time being, both of those game universes are totally unrealistic, and that doesn't even address the fact that these are videogames we are discussing here.
