If you hover over and click on the "Ultimate Sketchup Template" title in the OP, it will take you to the Filefront link where the file is being hosted. It works, I just tried it again.
I haven't read the entire thread....but I just downloaded sketchup a few weeks ago and have been playing around with it. creating speaker boxes, a model of my apartment building, just random things. I find 3D modeling very interesting and fun. this is awesome, as I just bought the mythic map pack and am always thinking of maps and design when I can't use the Xbox (fiancé watching bachelorette, or something like that) so now I can plan effectively with this tool. Thank you so much. It's great to see communities come together and share with others with similar interests! I wish I found this sooner. I just remaid a map in foundry that took hours on the xbox and did it in 20 minutes. This is a great way to test concepts and placement......every person who enjoys forgeing their own maps should be using this tool for idea creations, design testing, and anything else. I can't thank the contributors enough!
wow, this is really great! I wish I could actually use it though since it took took 10 minutes to load the program and the file. Also it lags whenever I want to move an object. (I seriously want to chuck this computer out the window). But if I could use it I would definitately make maps on this first. Are there any 2d Sandbox editors out there?
I'm playing around with sketchup and I found a way to remove part of the Crypts wall so I can actually see the whole Crypt without going outside of its walls. I did it by accident. Does anyone now how to do this?
You can select any piece and hide it, including the walls of the Crypt (the sand dunes are hidden by default. Don't unhide that unless you have a really powerful computer). You either deleted it (Ctrl+Z for undo) or you hid it.
I pulled the wall off like an object and was able to move it around independently than the Crypt. I was even able to place it down and later move it again. I haven't been able to recreate it, but I suppose hiding it will work. Thanks Squid. Edit: I figured it out. Zoom in near the Crypt. Then, Double-click the Crypt so it's selectable. Then use the move/copy tool and select the Crypt and voila the Crypt is split in two now. Note: if you did it wrong the whole sandbox template will move. If done right it will look like this:
I know you've posted Google's video tuts and all, but honestly they are not helping me. I'm a complete nub at this. How the hell do you access the components that come with this sketchup template? Superthx to Liz for this. Edit: Of course as soon as I post this after an hour of frustration, I figure it out. God...sorry. *Failure*
I thought the google tutorials were awesome to help understand the basics of the program. Start from the first one, try it, then move on, ect ect.... Thanks again for the model! I'm usig it now to model a map a friend and I want to build....
a little laggy but maybe thats just my comp. ill redownload on my laptop and try it in the morning when i wake up.
I need help, I've looked through some tutorials but can't get these components to work... i mean, i have sketchup 7 and the map works great, but all i can get from Window > Components is the component sampler with dogs, cars etc. Can someone pm me an answer? I would appreciate it.
after i have the file, what do i do? i know i open it in sketchup but then do i save it, make it a template, or just re-download every new time?
Back to computing basics... You don't want to save over the template because you'll probably want to use it again later. Go to File then Save As. Save it as a new file.
There is a terrain accuracy issue. There is a lot of high parts that are not that high in game. The terrain accuracy is about 20%! I would try to edit it, but i do not know where to start. I do not know how to edit the grid elevation either. Any help would be appreciated
I saw a better foundry template somewhere, but rapidshare wasn't working for me. It had the full foundry map, with all the little details and everything. I wish that dl worked... If anyone has it, would you mind putting it up?
Does anybody, or would anybody, be interested in giving me a design that they've got and aren't planning on making in forge? I'm in need of a new project but am horrible with design. :/
The file for Sandbox doesn't work for me. I keep getting a message that says that it isn't a Sketchup file
