I've been playing custom games since I got Halo 3. It's the fun I have on this game since I really don't like playing matchmaking that much. Lately, I've been having open parties on Friday nights and let everyone pick their maps. For the past 3 months, I've been noticing that almost every map that I play on is Foundry. Now, I'm not going to talk about how I hate Foundry and all that cause I don't. I just get sorta tired of playing on Foundry and I would like to play on another heroic map besides Foundry.

I do know what you mean, as the sorrounding is slightly bland (green, dirty, oh look a window...). However, as long as the map is interesting, it doesn't get to me in the sense that it bores me, it's still one of my favoarites. In-fact, including forging, my favoarite!

it can be really dull ... but if the map is made well enough, then you'll not be distracted by its dullness ... you'll be too busy enjoying the design/gameplay

Foundry is never dull for me because every time someone loads a new map, its like opening up a christmas present!

    Either:
1.) the gift sucks and needs to be returned to wal-mart
2.) the gift is ok and I will play with it for a few weeks then sell it to a friend
3.) it is an awsome gift which i shall cherish for all time.

    Simple as that.

As far as foundry being over used it is true, but it does supply a lot of cool objects that most maps do not have. So i really think foundry is great map to forge on and has many different options. That makes it ok to be over used.

I think the biggest challenge is to create instantly recognizable landmarks. (Easier said than done!) If you can do that, it doesn't matter that the aesthetic of the Foundry environment is always pretty much the same.

There are already 3-4 topics about this, try to use the search feature. And I don't mind that they are always Foundry, it makes great maps who cares if it looks repetitive. Gameplay>Asthetics

    Yeah

I definitely think that Foundry isn't the only map with potential, but it is just the best for forging on.

Yes Foundry is overused but I find that as long as maps are different I love Foundry. Its a map that is always full of new expereinces

Foundry is rather overused but the amount of working space and resources available attract a lot of players to forge on it. Unforged? Yea i hate it.

Yes I know what you mean but don't you get the feeling that almost every forged map in Foundry is almost the same. Noticed how I said almost. lol

Other than the fact that nowhere near all of the maps are on Foundry, there isnt actually much choice. People cant make the stuff they want on other maps. Foundry it the only option.

On the plus side: customs sessions have less loading time when all the map variants are on the same base.

There are a bunch of good maps on standoff (try marksman (no link... use the search function)) and rat's nest as well. It's up to you to keep things mixed up.

The really cool stuff can only be done in the Foundry, though.

Yep, you nailed it. People want to make the best maps. The best maps are on Foundry. Simple as that.

well foundry is a very plain, big, open map. Forging things in it is very easy and hassle free. I have a couple of maps thats not on foundry. My SSBB Map 2, map, on standoff and border patrol 2 on rat's nest...

Yes everyone has been saying that it's an easy map to forge on and I don't blame them for saying that but I would love to see an equal amount of Rat's Nest map and Standoff.
