So with the conclusion of my latest map, Telekinesis, and the dawn of its succeeding V2, I've noticed that the map lacks good gameplay elements from some viewers because mainly the spawns. I am totally not an expert on spawning, and I know that. Surprisingly, there is no guide to spawns or any Forging 101, just advanced spawn placement. I'm having a hard time grasping the spawn concept well. If someone can willingly help me, I would appreciate it. You can either:

1: Give a guide to spawns, detailed would be helpful, either in your own words or in a link to a guide.

    2. Use your map or another member's map as an example, and show how he/she/you laid the spawns out in the map, and how the way he/she/you used would benefit my map.

    3. Volunteer to join a game session with me and guide me through spawning on the map.

    4. Other helpful tidbits and advice on spawns from any members that can be proven useful.

I really need this. People really like this map, the aesthetics live up to the expectations, but the gameplay doesn't. I want to fix that, and I bet a lot of you do to. I'm determined to get the V2 seen and noticed by FH, and even make it to the front page, even though that would be exaggerating right now, but who knows. You will be mentioned of in the post and honored in it. Actually, you'd be specially honored for being my teacher of spawning. I would even consider calling it a collaboration with the person who helps me in-game, just because you physically place and helped me with the spawns.

    So, any advice? Post.

This actually is a beginners tutorial. Placing spawns is very hard to do correctly so what are supposed to be basics are actually very complicated.

~Always place spawns so that they are pointing in the direction of PoI (Points of Interest). These consist of Objectives, important structures, and weapons. This is called player orientation.
~Never have a spawn more than two seconds away from cover.
~Good maps don't use all the spawns. In fact many great maps only have 25 or less of the spawns placed on the map. A good example of this would be distortion by buddahcrane. There are only 4 spawns on he whole map and it holds up great for 2v2. That's a different spawn for every player.

If you are in need of help check out bungie made maps. Most of these maps don't have any bad spawn errors which makes them perfect for reference while you are placing your spawns.

You should also check out Predicide's spawn guide for some advanced and important spawn networking and theory information.
I apologize for not linking it because I'm on my iPod, but just search for Predicide in the search feature, and the guide should be linked in his sig.
    Good luck!

Edit: Hm, not in the sig. Anyone have a link? Sorry bout that.

Forgegod: The link only describes the spawn points and areas, not effective placement. But your advice is helpful. Thanks.

P.S. Predicide has no spawn guide, I've checked his threads. But I've searched around and found others that are really long and confusing, but will be helful from studious reading.

Whoops, wrong person. Devinish is the guy that made the spawn guide. Had to go over to GoO to confirm that one :p
Also, Furious D 18 made a pretty handy respawn area guide that might become useful. Make sure to check both those guides out, they're extremely informative.
