Is this game worth it? On a scale of one to ten what would you give it?

Prototype seems bland to me as from most videos the setting is the same over and over again.

    Yeah, I would give it about a 9. It's a fun game.

The setting is the same because you are in Manhattan, NY. You're not going to get too much of a change in scenery there.

And, I don't see why people think the missions are repetitive. You have your intel missions where you have to infiltrate enemy bases. There are missions where you have to protect enemy machinery until you can use it for your own good. Then you have your typical destruction missions where you have to take out enemy targets. I mean, there is plenty of variety here.

Plus, you have collectibles all around the city if you just wanna take a break and breeze through the streets/buildings looking for orbs. You also have events you can try your hand at, and there are plenty of bases/hives/water towers to destroy if you want some more xp.

I mean, sure, if you go through mission by mission, things may get boring. But that's not the point of the game. You're a badass super villain with an entire city as your playground. Have fun with it. For me, missions were just something to do when I got bored with everything else, not the other way around.

    It's strictly single-player.

I beat the game on hard tonight (yay) and started on easy+ to get the "Hard to Kill" achievement. Basically you keep everything except your deaths and pedestrians consumes. This allows you to get the "Hard to Kill" and "Nice Guy" achievements. You cannot use your powers until you would normally unlock the claw power in the base. And, as draco said, you can't drive vehicles until you normally would otherwise. And when you get injected with the parasite, you still can't use your powers until you complete the next two missions. The events all pop up after the third mission or so. All of your stats are the same, but your deaths and pedestrian consumes are reset to zero.

However, since I already completed the WOI and Consume Events on my copied save file, I'm not sure if you will have to wait for those or if you can continue right away where you left off.

Is it anything like spiderman 2? Most epic game for gamecube. I was thinking of getting this, or at least giving it a rent.

I noticed several similarities with superheroes. Mostly with the Hulk though. However, running up the sides of buildings, especially when you jump up them, does remind me of Spiderman. The way you glide kinda looks like Iron Man, and when you land hard enough you send dust up in the air, crack the pavement/building, and send any objects near you flying, which reminded me of Hancock. But the way you run, and jump over cars, or run through them if you are using an armor power, and just the way you move in general, really sparked some deja-vu of watching The Incredible Hulk.

I would recommend that you give it a chance, because although it isn't for everyone, you possess a great deal of power, and you have all of Manhattan as your playground. I mean, who hasn't dreamed of running up a skyscraper, leaping off of its highest point, and then dive-bombing back to the ground, all without earning a scratch? Okay... maybe that one is just me.

Just bought it with a warranty from EB games, if I think it sucks I can just return it. Well, I guess we'll see how this turns out. :)

I have about 115 landmarks and most of the hints, but thanks to that map someone posted I'll try to get them all. That one landmark underneath the bridge was annoying!! lol.
I still need one last W.O.I., and these achievements: Trail of corpses, Au, Pt, Revenge Revisited(Haven't started yet) Streetwise, Polymath, and the Web Of Knowledge (which should be easy)
I got the Nice Guy achievement In Easy mode, along with Hard to Kill.
The only events I need to get Gold in are the Ninja-like ones with the foot logo. Those are probably the hardest IMO.

    Good idea.

I have just "Trail of Corpses" and "Pt" left to get, and they are going to take forever. I've killed about 13k infected, and that is from doing it on Normal and then on Easy+. Only 40k left to go... geez. I have about half of the events platinum'd but the rest are going to suck. I thought the hardest events were the War events cuz the allies would always die before I could kill all the enemies...

Question, once I get Au, will it automatically give me Pt? Or do I have to start over and get all Silver?

EDIT: I also really like battling the last boss in the game. Why? Because you get to throw missiles at it like they are mere spears. And they explode!

Oh and for the achievement whores out there, if you're looking to cut some time off of trying to get Trail of Corpses, try running with your shield down the sidewalk that circles the edges of the island. You can get up to 300 kills in just a couple of minutes.

The achievements should be stacked, because if a couple of them you got gold and the rest platinum, you'd get Pt achievement.

Anyways, I've been playing for a few hours, and must say this is a damn addicting game. It's like gamecube spiderman 2 on steroids. Definitely worth buying from what I've seen, and the replay value seems fairly high. There's been a lot of elements taken from spiderman 2 and hulk ultimate destruction. Those were both great games, but the new ones honestly just fall short and fail.

Silver =/= Platinum. The ranks are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum (in that order). After you get Gold on everything, you unlock Platinum. The cool thing is, if you got Platinum-worthy numbers when you got Gold, it automatically gives you Platinum for that event when you unlock it.

what's everyones method of dealing with hunters? i hate those things, they make the infected kill events so frustrating.

Use the fists, not any kind of blade. They really aren't that hard to take down.

Well, I think each power has its pros and cons when dealing with hunters. The easiest way to do massive damage to them is by throwing stuff, especially cars since they blow up on impact. This also allows for you to keep enough distance from them to prevent taking any damage in the process.

So, what's everyone's favorite power? I love the whipfist. Being able to grab and do damage from afar is quite useful. And whipping it into enemies with the X combo just looks so cool.

whipfist is slowly growing on me. my favorite thing to do is just grab civilians and chuck them around.
