I made this while waiting for Mace to get my real sig done, CnC please.
This is only temporary, but depending on the feedback, I may keep this one instead.

That is definitely not bad for a first signature, it's better than mine. There are other key elements you would need to know, but I am sure some more skilled graphic artists can assist you with that. Take a look around the Graphics Forum and you will find some helpful CnCs for other signatures and some graphic keywords like depth, smudging, lighting, blending, flow, etc... You can even find basic signature making tutorials for Gimp/Photoshop by just using Google. Have fun with graphics!

Thank you for the constructive and positive post. I kind of lied as this is not my first signature, but me merely getting back into it from 2 years ago when I was known as Final_Battle on other sites, mainly Droidz.org

Edit: If you are interested, this is my sig shop at my prime of doing sigs, don't post there, I am all done with Droidz
    Final Battles Sig Shop

Ok, well, this is an ok first sig/first sig in a while.

    Some things to work on:
    - Flow: Try using C4Ds or smudging to lead the viewer's eye in a particular direction, instead of having it scan the sig in a random fashion.
    - Blending: Well, it looks to me like you set Cloud's opacity pretty low... This does make him blend with the background, but not in the best way. Try setting him back up to full opacity and smudging/blurring the edges of the render until it is eased into the background.
    - Text: It doesn't really match the sig. Try using a light gray instead of white, and change the font to something that fits in more with the Final Fantasy theme.
-C4Ds/Effects: the effects in the background are a little odd. I would stay away from C4Ds and other copy-and-paste effects until you get more accustomed to using the defaults.

As I said, a nice sig for someone who is new to graphics/coming back to it. Try to make a V2, I would really like to see what you can do with this sig.
