Okay so i am working on a new infection map where humans are Marines and Zombies are Flood. And the map takes place in a city struck with a forerunner ship. And the second half takes place in the flood hive but i don't know what i should put inside the Hive to make it a little more eerie. EDIT: Instead of the ship being flood controlled. The ship just crashes into the Hive which releases the flood
I don't really have anything exact as far as design, but try making it look organic, by using curves. Don't make it a square. Also, Kill Balls make a decent sound, try putting them near walls, but not in sight. Edit: If you put a killball so that it just BARELY shows through the wall, and I mean barely, like around an AR long / tall, it doesn't look like a killball, it looks like sparks with a wave of electricity going through it. This isn't very "floodish" but if there are ship pieces or anything, you can do that to make electricity. Edit 2: Also, your description of the map reminds me of the level "High Charity" from Halo 2. You are in the covenant city, non infected, and Pelicans taken over by flood start landing. Off-Topic: Does the prophet of Mercy die on High Charity?
Yeah, He gets infected. You even see him mid-infection. But thanks, But the theme is just like a regular city, Its not Covie or anything.
Try going through campaign missions with the Flood like Cortana, or even The Flood. It's okay to copy some structures or get ideas from the Flood structures if you plan on getting the look right. Also try looking at Isolation's lower half. For Flood Structures, I would say rugged pillars, dome-like buildings and hanging structures, it would also be cool to recreate some Flood buildings from Halo Wars.
