Sandbox Carousel

    Carousel: Round and round you go, because where you stop, you die.

    Recommended players: 2-8
    Recommended gametypes: FFA slayer, team slayer


    Carousel was built as a free-for-all map that promotes frantic, unpredictable movement. There are really no "bases" (although there is a red side and blue side for reference) and very few defendable positions. By utilizing eight man-cannons and two teleporters, movement across the entire map is quick and easy, which leads to sudden sneak-attacks, surprising ambushes, and unexpected escapes. The more you move, the longer you stay alive... generally.

    The bottom-center area (where most of the power-weapons are located) hosts four man-cannons that can quickly transport you to one of the top four corner bases. From there, you can jump from man-cannon to man-cannon and quickly make your way clockwise around the entire upper area. (This is the "carousel" motion that inspired the name of the map.) You can't stay up top forever, however, because you'll quickly run out of ammunition and equipment. To refuel, you need to drop back down to the bottom and start the process all over again.

    This is my first map and my first time posting here, so I'm really hoping for some constructive feedback. My friends and I love this map for free-for-all slayer because of the fast-paced action and crazy scenarios. (When you die, most of the time you're wondering, "Where did that come from?") Comments and suggestions welcome.

    "I like the idea your going for here and and overall I'd say the map looks pretty good with decent cover. As far as the critism goes, there are too many power weapons and too much equipment for a smaller map. Missile pods? Rockets, 2 snipes a shotty and a sword? IMO just seems like a bit too much.

    Hmmm... I guess I was thinking about maps like Cold Storage, which boasts a rocket launcher, a sniper, active cam, overshield, power drain... etc. On Carousel, the sniper rifles only have one clip each, and they're tough to get to. The missile pods are down on the floor in the far corners and are really only meant for taking out vehicles.

    Maybe I should make a "heavy" varient and a normal varient with less high-end weaponry.
