I'd wait, a lot of people are trying to upgrade at once. Be patient and I'm sure you'll be able to soon enough.
Hmmm, very strange. I'm not updating my OS, so I haven't plugged in my iPhone to check if I get the update or not, as you've shown. I guess it's just a problem with the server, give it a while - the release could possibly be paced to try and stop the whole thing from crashing, although I don't know how these things work.
I haven't attempted to update my ipod touch yet, and I'll hold off until they can jailbreak the latest software. I may not even upgrade at all this time around... we'll see.
It was mid-installation and my internet cut out on me, now it cannot even access the iphone menu (in iTunes) to complete the update, so I'm basically sitting here with a phone that can only make emergency calls. Nothing on their website tells how to fix this problem, so I was hoping that someone here can help me.
That's the problem, I can't even access the menu, it always tells me my network connection timed out, then when I go to for example, the iTunes store, the connection works perfectly. I'm sitting here with a $300 piece of metal that does absolutely nothing. EDIT: sorry for the crappily put together screen cap, but this is where I'm at with it. Nothing loads, but the store loads fine.
I think there is some way to set you iphone into restore mode.... which I believe is done by holding the hold key and the center button for 30 seconds or so... but I'm not certain... I've never attempted it before.
I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and that seemed to work. So if anyone had the same problem as me, just uninstall and reinstall iTunes. It worked for me. There must have just been a corruption with the file, and by repairing that (that's what it said when I reinstalled) I was able to fix it
The restore mode is home and power button for 10 seconds, then the home button only for 7 seconds. I just upgraded to 3.0 on my touch, but the iphone dev team said that they aren't sure when the jailbreak will be out, but that it WILL happen. 3.0 is nice due to copy and paste, but nothing else is really worth it. Since I pirate apps and music and videos, I just had $10 of left over iTunes money so I figured I'd try it. Now I await the iPhone coming to verizon... My brother just got his pick of computers for college, and he picked an HP. I cringed mightily. If it breaks down, I'm just going to smack him and tell him to buy a mac next time. Just jailbroke to 3.0 It's surprisingly alot snappier then 2.2.1 jailbroken, but I didn't notice the difference from normal 2.2.1 to normal 3.0
I have an iPod Touch 2G, as I'd rather not pay for massive data plan prices, and the Touch does everthing the iPhone does despite Calls + GPS. I probably won't be getting OS 3.0 for a while, as 2.2.1 works fine for me. Plus, not all apps work with 3.0. I have over 150... I've spent way too much money on them.
