I guess ASUS is planning on releasing a gaming console. Check this article out.

Not an actual photo of the console.

Personally, I think this idea is doomed to fail. Here are a couple of reasons why:

    - Nintendo has has been designing consoles for a long time, and their name is used as a term by much of the U.S. population. For example, "Get off the Nintendo!" or "Want to go to your house and play some Nintendo?" If someone is shopping for an inexpensive console, and their choices are the Wii and the ASUS console, the Wii will most likely be chosen because it has Nintendo's name on it.

    - I'm sure game developers would rather develop for Nintendo than ASUS.

What we really need is a Sony replacement. I think Sony is having a really tough time, and with the economical recession, I doubt they'll be introducing another console. Even most game developers are abandoning Sony. If ASUS could introduce a console with Blu-Ray and Nvidia graphics that would cost less than the PS3, than they might have a chance of being successful. Of course the console would have to have all the other standard stuff, you know, wireless controllers and such. If this ASUS Console had the ability to support six players natively, an awesome online network like Xbox Live, and the ability to use Flash Drives so we wouldn't have to spend $50 for a low-capacity memory card, than we might actually have a winner.

    Xbox FTW!

    Post your thoughts below!

ASUS has only one good product, so they really should focus on working on that. If anything, Apple should design a game console. But then it wouldn't carter to all the artists who are the true Apple users! ;P

I'm sure Apple could make an amazing game console, but it would be very overpriced.

What ASUS product are you referring to?

They look almost exactly alike there would probably be some copyright infringement. Also most game developers probably won' pay attention to it, so no good games will get released on it. Millions of people already have a wii and won't want to buy a wii replica. This thong is desined to fail.

The picture is not a real photo of the console, it's just for demonstrating the idea.

I just barely added the red lettering. Yeah, I agree, I don't think anyone is going to go buy another "wii-like" console.

Yeah it's doomed to fail, Nintendo has became a household name. Unless they make it really cheap, in which case there'd be very bad hardware in there.

    Bad hardware = Broken console

    Broken console = No developers

I have a feeling this console will be an epic fail.

Plus its just ASUS written on the side of the Wii console.
