UNNAMED! Well I haven't posted a map in a while and that's because I've been working on (and procrastinating on) a new map. My friends tell me it looks like it will be awesome and I really want it to turn out good, so I decided to give you guys a preview and get some ideas as to what would work best. Here are some screenshots: The blocks on the outside won't be there in the final version, they're just building blocks. There will not be a gap in the wall there once I've sorted the curve out. Ok so there's a general overview on what it looks like at the moment. Now I plan to rework the curves to make them smoother and not lopsided, change the central structure and create a semi-circle room above each of the pillar areas. I'm looking for ideas on what to do and names, etc. I am using a stacked canvas, not OLN or budget glitched, so no massive structures. I originally intended to create a whole second level above the first but I don't have enough items or budget.
You could add Mongooses, but then you would have too add something too prevent Grenade Jumping from mongooses (The grenade explosion + the mongoose explosion can allow people too jump about the height of a Block, Large)
Yeah, escapability was one of my main issues. I need a roof but I'm not sure if I'll have enough - I guess I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
Rather then cover the whole thing you could just add walls at an angle facing inwards with the curve. That would be much more anaestheticly pleasing, and would probably take less parts.
I see what you mean, sounds good but I doubt I'll have enough items for that. Out of double walls as it is. I'll see how it goes anyways, if I can, I'll use your idea. Thanks.
Weapon-Wise I think it would be useful with Shotguns, Maulers and grenades. (And Short-Range weapons like SMGs)
you could possibly do it in the skybox and the escaping part would not be that big of a deal since it would just be escaping to your death. Since it does not look like you have made it extremely far you could just switch to the skybox. It would have a very large rats nest feel to it.
Although escapability is a massive issue to any map, in this case i do not feel that going to skybubble would not be a good idea as budget spent on the floor would triple that needed on making the map not escapable. I think this map looks really good and that you should keep it up. To provide some difference you should put a grass floor bit at each end, also a room or sniper tower at each end would be very good. If you can pull this off it should be a big one!
This map is very open. I think mostly medium range weapons with 1 short range and 1 long range (rockets seem like a good fit). Seems like a lot of empty space in this, maybe building smaller in the sky bubble would have been a better choice, then you wouldn't have to worry about breaking.
I actually built the outer curve in the skybox originally but saw that it would require several thousand more items than I had to create the floor and so moved it down to the base. Trust me, I've put a lot of thought into which level it should go on, the base is the best. This is a very early preview, I do intend to fill the space yes.
You could add things like Block, Flats vertically to give you a sight over a wall. You could then add sniper rifles for the people standing on the blocks.
I hate to say it, but it looks like Rat's Nest in a way. Some more cover and some movable objects around the outside ring would make this map better though IMO. But unless you make a roof like dreaddraco is suggesting, people escaping you map will be a huge issue. Congratz at least for not randomly building this in the skybubble and wasting time and resources on a floor...
Haha, Rat's Nest is alright actually. Personally I was going for a feel of the top ring of Construct but obviously with differences. I will be adding more cover around the outside definately yeah, moveable objects sound good as well though. Escapability does seem to be the major obstacle here. I will probably try to squeeze out a roof out of block huges and stuff - hopefully I don't have to resort to kill balls or even just leave it open :/
