A medium-sized MLG map on the middle of Sandbox ideal for playing MLG Team Slayer, with other gametypes not recommended. Please glance over the pictures and read the description for more info. I also hope that you will take the time to download it and give any constructive criticism that you may find. Overview Red base - me standing in the Mauler box and above is the sniper platform Back hallway - jumps up to sniper platform Edge of sniper on the left; bottom mid and one of the symmetrical side high points The opposite side high point, looking out to Blue Base. Player is in one of the attic boxes. Bottom center mid; background towards Blue Base (not this is not the sniper respawn - rockets spawns there but I switched weapons in the custom game) Looking out from top Blue Base (OS room) to mid. Bottom blue base looking out to bottom mid. The basis of this map started with the creation of the outside 'skeleton' for the map which consists of a series of tube pieces (intersections and corners too) and player-created tubes to form the basic shape of the map. There are two main highpoints at either end of the map, one containing OS, the other Sniper. The middle of the map is designed to be more close-quaters battles and is perfect for BR battles. Overall the map boasts a variety of levels, weapons and cover points but the design of the map also makes it hard for a team to take total control. The map is also impossible to escape with ordinary jumps, however a decent grenade jump will take you out of it. 12 x BR 2 x Carbine 1 x Sniper 1 x Rocket 1 x Mauler 7 x Frag 4 x Plasma 1 x Overshield Download B32 Skeletal here: Bungie.net : Halo 3 File Details
First of all NEVER take your pictures in forge. Especially if it's on Sandbox, because of the grid. Other than that if my eyes would stop spinning from the grid i would say pretty go map i like the inside hallways.
Pictures are fixed. But download the map for a better view!! =) Edit: sorry about the pictures in forge and the grid lines!! But forgive me, afterall this is my first map posted on Forgehub.
The map looks pretty good, I can tell just from the pictures because you took them in forge that there is a major lack of spawns. I like the layout and all, the jagged outside wall looks cool. You know how to interlock, and I think you should really take advantage of interlocking more. There are portions of the map that are very bumpy, especially the tunnel hall. Try a v2 with a smoother build, but other than a little messiness, I like the maps layout a lot. I think this map would have more success in the competitive section, but thats only my opinion.
Ok, Like they said don't take your pictures in forge ever. Because the grid makes the pictures look like trash. Also since it is taken in forge I can see the spawn points. It looks like there isn't enough. This will lead to spawn killing. And in Picture 3, it looks extremely bumpy, try to interlock these pieces. Sorry to be hatin' but just trying to help.
The map concept looks good and all but, it looks like it needs more time put into alligning a lot of the objects and decluttering it, IMO. Thats also just from looking at the pictures though.
Why does everyone ***** about the grid? I can see the map perfectly fine... same rules apply when people ***** about effects even when it isn't anything like Nova, Pen & Ink, or anything like that. Anyway, the map seems pretty cool overall, I don't like how there are the little sniper windows on the bottom floor... I've never been a big fan of those unless it's a sniper tower (the small one) like on Ascension, that one was cool. Otherwise, I think it's pretty cool... here's a tip though, when trying to build an MLG map, try to make it as symmetric as possible... even if you are adding little details to make each base its own it's always a good idea... who knows, someone here might even end up on matchmaking like with Anvil or whatever those other maps are.
Thanks for your comments so far. I will definitely make a v2 of this map, although all of the interlocking currently took ages. I know what you mean about the 'bumpiness' of some of the hallways, but I really couldnt figure out why this was happening - I think some of the parts of the floor in Sandbox are slightly raised or uneven which makes it far more difficult. Also, the spawns currently are minimal because for some reason I deleted all the objects in the map before I created this which seriously limited my space. The current layout has no more object space, so I cannot immediately add more spawns. The criticism etc here will add to the v2 which I hope will be a much improved map; but this general layout will be the principle layout so comment away on what you like/don't like!
Thanks for your feedback Garfunkle! I have a question about competitive maps: Do I need to include some competitive weapons (ie.non MLG like needler, brute shots etc.); in other words, is a competitive map limited if it only has standard MLG weapons?
I appreciate at least a few forge pictures so I can see the layout of the spawns. You can also sometimes see if the creator took the time to 'drop-spawn' which is important in MLG maps. Looks good, I'll give it a try. As for the bubble-shield, I'll have to play it to see if it's staying in your map on my HD. :]
It looks really bumpy i think it would have potential if you made a v2 and made most of it symetrical
I like the layout of this map; it's not a square, it's zigzag! However, some of the places look cluttered and messy. The hallways seem to be bumpy when you walk on them.
Yeah, I had a bit of trouble making the tube boxes all the same level which gives only the back hallway a bumpy effect. I'm a pretty good forger and tbh I didn't think that this was fault of my own. I felt that the floor on the middle layer of sandbox wasn't entirely even all the way through. In the v2 I'm considering flipping the map around so it faces the other way as I seemed to have only 'bumpy' issues in one half of the map. I think this map works great, it's got a great variety of levels, obstacles, areas and some open spaces for more open battles. CHECK IT OUT!!
Seems pretty messy, and well to be honest, random. Its a nice start but is too plain in the middle. Has no real theme and doesn't really have a flow. Sorry to be harsh but i'm keeping it real. 2/5 because i like the fact it looks like it took your time.
