Link to original thread (don't bump it!)

Okay, the original thread died (again, don't bump it), but I had just started working on the map in sketchup and in forge.

In forge, I've built the first level. It used 4 corners, a few walls, a wall slit and 6 double walls. This is all excluding the 'stair' design.

    Forge Pics:

The map is a budget-glitched OLN canvas with the laser towers turned ON. The interlocking is doing okay, although I am already using the OLN bits. I'll compile a list of the OLN parts here, so I don't accidentally try to interlock them:

    OLN Parts

    - The wedge small that connects the first floor with the first floor-to-ground floor 'stairs'

I've also done a sketchup design of the map. I've got a lot further with the sketchup design, and I am constructing the forged map from the design of the sketchup map.

    Sketchup Pics:

View from the future site of the second 'apartment'. The random objects can all be ignored except for the upright wall double, which will be where the second 'apartment''s entrance shall be. (I haven't built the main entrances yet)
Note: The blocks are only sticking out the front of the building because of the oversized nature of the ramp large sketchup component.
Also Note: The actual forged product will not have the windows in the same place, and will not look the same. It will also be slightly narrower.

So far I have sketched up three floors. I have decided to have about 5 storeys on each 'apartment'.

Overview of a possible layout for the floors, which I have decided will be partially destroyed.

This pic shows how I will include a gap down the centre of the 'stairs'. People will be able to jump down if need be.

View of the back. The scaffolding is just an idea of how I will include an 'unintentional' back entrance. The back entrance will not be on the ground floor though.

This is the ground floor. I would like to point out that there will no longer be a hole in the wall here. This pic is only here just to show how I will tackle the problem of people camping the stairs or the top of the building.

So, what do you guys think?

No mancannons? Anyways, nice work so far. How do you plan on using vehicles, and supporting battles in between the apartments?

And nice sig quotes. Real nice.

This looks really good, you have put many thought in it, especially how to make the building seems damaged. I never get that right, but you seem to have in the schetch-up design. I, however advise to not mirror the damage exactly in the other building ( you probably have already thought of that ).
I like how you are planning to make multiple entrances to the building, It would be great if the building had also exterior damage, like some kind of hole in it (go destruction) where you could man cannon into from the other tower.
I think this looks pretty good and I am looking forward to play on this map, whenever it is finished.

PS, for saving some (very little) objects, you could use T-walls for exterior walls AND floors close to the walls, gaining about 8 objects per tower, if not more.

    Good luck and happy forgin'

Hmm. Do you think it's possible to have balconies and some connecting platforms on the outside of the Apartments? I understand that you want to have some good stairwell/interior combat, but to really encourage Infantry (that is, sans vehicle) fighting between the two buildings, I think it would be really good to have at least a couple of doors -- perhaps separated by a floor -- that lead out to balconies with good views of the other building. From there, you can add catwalks that extend from those balconies to opposing balconies. Just a thought.

Wow, this looks impressive! I've always liked playing FPS games inside enclosed buildings. I'm glad you're putting that into Halo 3. The apartment looks aesthetically pleasing, especially the stairs. I'm a little confused about the other side of the apartment? Is there only one entrance or will you provide other ways to get in? Anyways, I'm really excited to see this and I wish you the best of luck on completing this! ;)

Thanks for the help guys. I'm constructing the second storey of the first apartment now.

And @MousseMooseROCKS: There will be multiple entrances.
