I'm sick and tired of hearing about how awesome Brutal Legends will be. "Dude, you can kill people with an axe and a guitar, and it's Jack Black, so it has to be good!" It looks like a mediocre game. All I see is that you can hit people with an axe, shock them with a guitar, and drive your car. All of which do look just O.K. in gameplay and refine. It's only getting so much attention because Tim Schafer is making it, which is the same man who made Psychonauts (And I didn't like Psychonauts that much in the first place) This was kind of my little rant on how I'm getting annoyed with all the attention BL is gaining while other, better games get left in the dust. Hell, last night on X-Play they said BL looks more promising than MW2. Is anyone here REALLY interested in BL or is it just the media trying to tell us that it will be awesome?
Well, to start off. Most people won't be as impressed with sequels then with new IP. Both games look just as promising as each other. Brutal Legend is just more unique in setting then MW. People are bound to be more interested when a game comes out with a famous game developer and famous actor. Just deal with it. And for all you know, MW2 could just be as big a **** storm as CoD5.
Its about time there was a heavy metal oriented game (not including guitar hero / Rock band) to many rappers get there games published, bout time rock gets some loving. Mountains of skulls, walls made of amps, sick shreds, If im lucky, we might even get a motorcycle with bat wings Plus Jack black is bad ass. *raises the horns*
I agree completely Shatakai. It looks like one of those videogames that the make for movies. It's just sort of thrown together and not that great. Even with the famous developer, the story looks retarded (like seriously step back and look at it, wtf) and the gameplay looks mediocre. Idk wtf you all are talking about saying that game is more interesting than sequels when you got stuff like MW2, Assassin's Creed 2, BioShock 2, Halo: ODST, and L4D2 being the sequels in question. The day I get excited over BL instead of any of those titles is the day I get diagnosed with down syndrome.
I don't think the game looks particularly bad, I just don't see how anyone would consider it better than some other games like MW2, Uncharted 2, AC2, and other 2's...
It doesn't really matter that it's getting attention, I don't think it's going to be good but that doesn't mean that some people wont love it. Basically, it has Jack Black in it. That pulls all the people that are not hardcore gamers into looking at it.
Well, seeing as the only thing that will potentially be good in Modern Warfare 2 is it's campaign... and Brutal Legend is all a single player experience, I think that it is clear which will be "better" for that. People can like whatever games they want, so don't be a critic if you can't pull it off. (For the record: I am not entirely convinced about this game myself, but the concept is cool and original, even funny for someone who does not like metal such as myself.)
I never said that others aren't allowed to like the game, I just said that I don't understand why people would like it better than some of the other, bigger titles. Granted, not all big titles are good, but so far this year's look ace.

Well first of all the gameplay might lok like alot of other action games but if they do it right it will excel. Also its a good break from the shooter games that are mindlessly released just because it's what sells.
I feel you Shatakai. I've said the same thing, it doesn't look at all, "good". There's no way that game can be more promising than Modern Warfare 2...
Psychonauts was probably one of the best games ever released for the first Xbox. I was so addicted to that game. I could not stop playing it. It had good humor, good story, and good gameplay. So maybe Brutal Legend doesnt look so good right now. They havent shown all of it yet so you cant really judge. However my personal opinion with Jack Black is he should only stay as an actor. He cant be a rocker if his life depended on it.
I think hiis band is more of a joke really i mean most of the songs aren't serious or are mean to be funny i don't think the band is an actual serious attemt at making a band. The reason he was probably given tat part in the game was for humor aspects.
Personally, I think that people just need to wait till it comes out. It might be really fun or lame. Don't think about what x-play says. XPlay is a decent show, but they care about their sponsors first of all.
It's not just Xplay, Game Informer said it's their #1 anticipated title of '09. There are others as well.
It's going to be awesome just because it's being made by the same person who made Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle.
MW2 is a rehash is why. It shows promise and is a bit of a throwback to last gen. You know, when games didn't take themselves seriously and weren't full of bald space marines?
