Zepherus - A medium scale 5 vs 5 map in the middle tier of Sandbox with heavy emphasis on vehicle use. BR starts highly recommended. EDIT: I've taken all of your advices and eliminated unnecessary pieces to add more cover between the bases and the central structure. Lets call this 1.7 Welcome to my first (mostly) symmetrical map in Sandbox's middle tier, Zepherus. My initial idea was to make a map that not just encouraged using vehicles (especially the Warthog), but also the surrounding terrain of Sandbox, such as the hills. You'll also find that Zepherus' layout echoes past maps, the bases have almost exactly the same weapon/vehicle layout as Valhalla, some traits of original Sandbox have been transferred over etc etc. I've left a lot of area maneuverable for Warthog-ing in Sandbox's gridded section but feel free to roam a little. Also, though I recommend 5 vs 5, it would be possible to ramp it up to 8 vs 8 (but you really need BR & AR starts). Anyway the result of my decent amount of hours solo-forging is what you are hopefully about to add to your download queues; Zepherus. Story: On this seemingly barren moon of a UNSC terraformed planet, two investigatory teams were sent to look into a sudden influx of energy. To their surprise they found an entirely abandoned settlement that seemed to have once been occupied by an unknown set of residents that had all but disappeared, perhaps over trying to claim potentcy over the huge power outputs held at either side of the settlement. To this day no one knows what reactivated the energy spheres, but the same fate that happened to past inhabitants is now repeating itself within the two current squadrons, losing their minds to the echoes of the valley and fighting each other out of inexplicable lust for the newfound power. This looks like a VERY good map, but I don't think there is enough cover next to the bases. I mean like, in between the bases and the central structure, especially since you have the warthogs and banshees.
To be perfectly honest, I've hit the item limit and can't really delete anything to make more cover... But the excuse I'm going to use to make myself feel cooler in this respect is that I intentionally left those areas quite blank to preserve Mongoose and Warthog maneuverability!
This is pretty good, but I think the bases could've been cleaner, and maybe a little more aesthetically pleasing. Overall though this is pretty good, and I might be downloading this next week since I'm going on vacation. Anyways though I like the looks of this, but bases need some smoothing out. I like the idea and the layout of the map as a whole though. EDIT: Just to let you know I mean INSIDE the bases. Where all the walls are located. The outside is beautiful and looks great, just the inside of it needs some cleaning up.
Well this looks like a good start, but as said before, its definitly too open. I can see a few things you could lose to make room. Like the platforms the mongooses are on. Really, if you have a Warthog, you only need one mongoose to each team. 4 plasma pistols is more than neede also. I think this could be a cool map if there was just something else around the middle in those empty areas. Your weapon choices seem fair enough, but you should add the respawn rates and spare clips to the weapon list. One suggestion I have also, dont take your pics in forge, those grid lines are annoying. Few changes here and you could have a pretty good map. Yeah its a pretty cool idea, but taking care of those open areas is more important.
Good points. I do realise that the platforms under the mongooses are about the most pointless things ever but I thought they looked cool... Under new revision they might well go. Honestly, I think it does actually look a hell of a lot better now. I'm sure there's more improvements to come but as it is, I like it now.
