Okay, first order of business: Good start. Nonetheless: Apparently some patches have been released and I need to install them. I DLed them and they emerged in WinRAR. Where so I extract them too? I'm assuming a client folder, but they may need to be separate. And do 360 controllers work with the game? Because I have a laptop so I don't have a mouse and don't like the controls. Please help, the halomaps.org community is very dead.
Epic - do you mean patches for your graphics card or for Halo CE? If so, patching your graphics card (I believe) won't make a difference - it is below the minimum spec and so won't work properly. My mate had a similar problem with Counter Strike Source for the PC. The only solution is to get a new, cheap graphics card with a 128MB memory. Yeah 360 controllers do work with the game - though it was a while ago I played it they do work, just not very well. I think the R trigger doesn't work properly and I had to use RB to fire - and you can't map multiple functions to the same key (I believe) so you can't set it up to have the same controls as an Xbox. I might be wrong though.
If you're getting 1.08, it should be an .exe, so there's no need to open them in WinRAR.. Easy version: Delete your patches that you downloaded from the internet. Don't bother with those. Go into multiplayer, then go to online, and it will prompt you for a patch. Its super simple.
I would imagine you extract the patches to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\ . I don't know anything about hardware, but I would suggest going into the game and seeing how it runs. If it's fine, ignore the error message. If it's not, minimize all the system settings and see how it runs. If it's still bad, you might have a problem.
I did that, but I had to run the game as administrator. I am shockingly bad at the game though Blood Gulch is like Valhalla, except flatter and worse The Rocket Hog's paint job is awesome lol Any maps you'd recommend?
For custom maps? I don't really know. I stopped playing the custom edition ages ago. As for default maps, damnation, ice fields, and danger canyon are some of my favorites. Boarding action and hang em high are good too.
His computer has 2gb of RAM... that's more than enough unless you're hardcore gaming. The graphics are fine for Halo PC, and 64m can run lots of decent looking games (Halo PC, Guild Wars, Fable)

Wait, you can't download, or somethings not working in WinRAR? If its the former, it may be a problem with the server host you're downloading from. If its the latter, make sure you're running WinRAR as admin.
