The other day I was playing through the Halo: CE campaign and playing splitscreen with some friends. The mulitplayer gameplay is really fresh and different compared to how we play now.

All of the weapons have a much greater effective range than the Halo 3 weapons do. The Shotgun can kill someone like 20 feet away in only a couple of shots, as it has a much smaller spread. The Assault Rifle kills in only 15 rounds, yet it has much better range and a way bigger clip. Don't get me started on the pistol either... o_o

So basically what I've been doing is trying to make a Halo 1 gametype to go along with the Hang 'Em High map I downloaded. I'm also trying to make Blood Gulch now that I have a budget glitched canvas.

Here is what I have changed so far for game features.

    Player Speed: 110 %
    Player Damage Resistance: 90%
    Shield Recharge Rate: 90%

Primary Weapon: Assault Rifle (I might change this as some maps you started with Plasma Pistols only)
    Secondary Weapon: Pistol
    Weapon Damage: 125%

    Custom Powerup Traits:
Player Shields: 3x Overshield (if you recall in Halo 1 you got two extra bars of shielding)

    Weapons:
    Assault Rifle
    Battle Rifle
    Beam Rifle
    Brute Shot
    Carbine
    Fuel Rod Gun
    Gravity Hammer
    Mauler
    Needler
    Pistol
    Plasma Pistol
    Plasma Rifle
    Rocket Launcher
    Sentinel Beam
    Shotgun
    SMG
    Sniper Rifle
    Spiker
    Spartan Laser
    Sword

Only the weapons that were present in Halo 1 are included in the game. This means the mid-range weapons are the Assault Rifle, Pistol and Rocket Launcher once more.

I did a lot of damage tests in Halo 1 to make sure that my damage increase was correct. It is fairly accurate. Here are some comparisions:

    Assault Rifle
    Halo 1: 15 shot kill
Halo 3: 11 shot kill. Makes up for loss in accuracy and shallower clip.

    Fuel Rod Gun
    Halo 1: 2-3 shot kill
    Halo 3: 2 shot kill

    Needler
    Halo 1: 7 shot kill
    Halo 3: 7 shot kill

    Pistol
Halo 1: 3 shot kill, 5 shots to body
Halo 3: 4 shot kill, 6 shots to body

    Plasma Rifle
Halo 1: 4 shots to deplete shields
Halo 3: 4 shots to deplete shields

    Plasma Pistol:
Halo 1: 6 shots to deplete shields
Halo 3: 6 shots to deplete shields

    Rocket Launcher:
    Halo 1: instant kill
    Halo 3: instant kill

    Shotgun:
Halo 1: Instant kill at point blank. 3 shots at 15 meters
Halo 3: Instant kill at point blank. 3 shots at 7 meters :(

    Sniper Rifle:
    Halo 1: 2 shot kill
    Halo 3: 2 shot kill

One thing I noticed about Halo 1 is that the motion tracker says 15 meters, but it seems to be almost 3 times that large. Should I set the motion tracker to 75 meters to imitate this, or leave it as is? Any more changes I could make to closer simulate Halo 1's fast-paced multiplayer gameplay would be great.

Maps I am planning on adding to my collection:

    -Longest
    -Prisoner
-Danger Canyon (halo PC only. epic map)

i remember when i first started playing Halo 3 that i tried screwing with the settings to remake Halo 1=p, didnt work out too well because Halo 3 just feels so much different even if the damage/Playspeed where the exact same.
looking good though and ive seen a few Halo 1 maps remade in Sandbox so i dont think youl have a problem in that department =]
