Well, I figured I'd get around to it some time or another.. but since summer is here, I've finally had time to work on and complete the foundation remake. I'm nearly done, I just need to wall everything off and add weapons. Absolutely everything is interlocked, and the floors are nice and smooth. When I'm done, even the four bases will have numbers. As my dad is sleeping in the basement, I can't get screenshots right now.. but I'll have teasers in the morning once my dad gets up. Also, I didn't put this in the forging competition because the deadline is closed.. and to get the map to its full potential, I need to use the UBG, otherwise it will be lacking. EDIT: Here's the promised pictures This is an overview of the entire project... once I finish rooms 1 2 3 and 4... it's a simple matter of adding interlocked walls, and a floor. What sets this map apart from the rest of the foundation remakes is it is completely based off of the original halo 2 model. Exact numbers, down to the very inch. Everything was worked based around the grid, so everything lined up perfectly. This last one I know will make many people happy. Since everything is interlocked, there is absolutely no room for grenades to slip into cracks, optimizing gameplay Once I get through all of the necessities.. if the budget allows.. I'll even add the terrace that looms over everybody's head (possibly even a switch that simulates a super jump :0) Well! That's the teaser, I'm aiming to finish a large majority today, so you can expect this probably by next saturday, mainly because I need to test and get things spot on.
looks pretty good so far, though I am concerned. There is no floor yet, or walling, and you used the sky bubble . . . that means you will probably run into budget issues. On my remake I hit the budget and item limit around the same time, and I used the main level, and even cut out one room. I suppose if you under size the map it could work though . . . Anyway, good luck.
Looks quite good so far but you will run in to budget problems. I think OctoDeath mentioned not having enough budget to add ceilings on the bases in Excavation and he didn't need to build the floor for that!
Good job man. This looks like it could be a keeper for me even before being complete. Keep up the work. P.S. - Is the floor going to be interlocked with the pieces in the middle of the map? If so that will look good.
As long as you don't get lazy on us and forget to make the floor, rooms, and walls, I will love this. Just out of curiosity, why didn't you make this on the middle floor of Sandbox? I'm afraid you might hit the OLN before you finish. Either that or the budget limit.
nice =], nice to see someone else who spends allot of time on a remake. (not having a go at the people that dont) i sent you a FR if thats ok because im going to be working on allot of remakes myself, heres a Sanctuary remake im working on atm. (about 15 Hours in at the pics in the thread) http://www.forgehub.com/forum/halo-forge-discussion/74020-working-sanctuary-remake-15-hours.html
I'm working on the flooring today, and I know what you mean. When I was halfway through this map, I already realized I could have issues with budgeting the floor. I'm trying various ways... mainly by overloading the map so I can geomerge objects evenly so they create a floor, with as little objects used as possible. I already knew this map would take a huge toll on my budget/item limit, to I was extremely thrifty.. not wasting objects that could be used elsewhere more efficiently. Despite how much I don't want to say it, I may have to start over from scratch. I'm debating between using flipped over tin cups as part of the flooring, mainly because they take up a large amount of space, and the bottoms are flat. The only issue is that they attract scenery objects, which may be a problem for fusion coil. I'm currently looking for the thread that explains how to properly use wall, doubles as flooring (despite how much I want to save them for walling).. could anybody lead me to it?
