Map Title: Wolf359 v2.0 Assimilation on Wolf359 Recommended Players : 8-16 Download Map : Wolf359 v1.0 Download Map : Wolf359 v2.0 - over 125 downloads Download Gametype : Assimilation - over 75 downloads Description : Spoiler Resistance is futile! For any Star Trek : The Next Generation fans out there, this story behind this should be familiar... You are with the United Federation of Planets and a member of StarFleet. There is a threat to all species in the Alpha Quadrant. They are called, the Borg. They are part biological, part technological beings seeking perfection. Their goals are quite simple. They act like one giant supercomputer, called "The Collective". They prey on new species and new technologies that will benefit them as a whole. They inject nanites into their victims. When the nanites take over the victim, all of their knowledge is shared amongst "The Collective". The Borg see The Federation as a threat. They have specifically targeted Earth as their primary target. The Federation is trying to stop them from succeeding. They chose Wolf359 as the place to make a stand, throwing everything they got at The Borg there. The Borg see this as a minor setback and will deal with The Federation until they are no longer a threat, and then move on towards Earth. The Borg seemed like a perfect story for an infection game type, so I set forth with this project. Wolf359 was an epic space battle that took place. Every available StarFleet vessel was moved there in an attempt to stop The Borg from advancing to Earth. Therefore, this map takes place in the sky bubble of Sandbox and is mainly an air battle. The Borg start off with no ships. The lower level of the Borg Cube is the engine room/transporter room. There are two transporters there. They take you to the Federation Starbase. Left transporter takes you to one of two locations, right transporter takes you to one of two different locations... to prevent camping and assassinating. Once The Borg get there, they can steal a ship. The Borg can also head to the top level of the Cube, which has 4 plasma cannons... one on each corner. There are also a couple of missile pods and energy drains up there to take down ships. Here are a few pics... Spoiler Map Overview ( you may notice the kill balls and some small structures ( ships disabled by The Borg ) which I used as cover for air battles ) The Borg Cube ( This is the huge vessel the Borg use to head towards Earth ) This is the warp engine or transwarp coil/transporter room. This is the hangar for vessels The Borg tractor beam in. ( as you can see, you can completely fly thru it ) The Federation Starbase ( this structure is the entire height of the sky bubble ) Starbase Hangar Weapon lists : Borg Cube Spoiler Weapons: Plasma Rifle - 2 (lower level) Sentinel Beam - 2 (lower level) *for some reason do not appear all the time Fuel Rod - 2 (middle level) *for some reason do not appear all the time Spartan Laser - 2 (middle level) Missile Pod - 2 (top level) Plasma Turrets - 4 (top level) Equipment: Bubble Shield - 2 Energy Drain - 2 Regeneration - 2 Overshield - 2 Federation Starbase Spoiler Weapons: Machine Gun Turret - 2 (lower level) Brute Shot - 2 (lower level) Battle Rifle - 6 (main level) Rocket Launcher - 2 (main level) Spartan Laser - 2 (main level) Carbine -2 (main level) Needler - 2 (main level) Missile Pod - 1 (main level) Equipment: Plasma Grenade - 8 Deployable Shield - 2 Game Type : Assimilation ( infection ) Spoiler Initial Zombie Count : 1 Next Zombie : Random Number of Rounds : 5 Time Limit : 7 minutes ( The Borg assimilate who they can in 7 minutes and move on towards Earth because whoever is left is no longer a threat ) Alpha Zombie Traits Damage Resistance : 300% Shield Multiplier : 2X Overshield Recharge Rate : 110% Damage Modifier : 125% Weapons : Plasma Pistol Grenade Count : None Infinite Ammo : Enabled Weapon Pickup : Enabled Player Speed : 100% Player Gravity : 150% Vehicle Use : Full Use Motion Tracker : Enhanced @ 10 Meters Forced Color : Green Zombie Traits Damage Resistance : 200% Shield Mutiplier : Normal Recharge Rate : 110% Damage Modifier : 100% Weapons : Plasma Pistol Grenade Count : None Infinite Ammo : Enabled Weapon Pickup : Enabled Player Speed : 90% Player Gravity : 150% Vehicle Use : Full Use Motion Tracker : Normal @ 25 Meters Forced Color : Green Human Traits Damage Resistance : 200% Shield Multiplier : Normal Recharge Rate : 100% Damage Modifier : 100% Weapons : Battle Rifle/Shotgun Grenade Count : Map Default Infinite Ammo : Enabled Weapon Pickup : Enabled Player Speed : 125% Player Gravity : 75% Vehicle Use : Full Use Motion Tracker : Normal @ 25 Meters Last Man Traits Damage Modifier : 125% Player Speed : 150% Motion Tracker : Enhanced @ 25 Meters Waypoint : No Waypoint ( At this point, you want to try to hide until The Borg leave after 7 minutes ) Respawn Traits Duration : 2 seconds Shield Multiplier : 4X Overshields Recharge Rate : 200% Immune to Headshots : Enabled Damage Modifier : Instant Kill Player Speed : 150% Waypoint : Visible To Everyone ( Setup to prevent spawn killing... if you wanna take a chance at getting instant killed, be my guest ) As you can tell, I'm not a big fan of your typical infection games. I prefer some twists to make it fair to both sides. Increased health was put in to make it more like Star Trek. Ships take damage, not instantly die... so I increased health so people could survive a couple hits or so. I made this more air based so there was no camping and raping zombies down hallways or spawn raping. V 1.0 of my map had four small bases with ships in each base. The Borg started off with one transport hornet, but found it to be a little overpowering for the zombies. Also if you were left behind with no ship, you had no place to really run other than tranporter room hopping. V 2.0 removed the four small bases and I made it one large starbase with all the ships. That way people stranded could possibly hide in the base and have a fighting chance. I provided links to both versions. The juicy FX is on both versions of the map to make it darker and appear more like you're in space. I just added contrast to my images so you could see what was in the pics. Now some action shots... Spoiler The Borg may have missed, but got him to fly into a kill ball while evading... So much for those enhanced sensors on a multi level base... Borg in a banshee trying to assimilate someone... Assimilated... Another one assimilated... May want to pay attention to where you're flying while firing...
Simply fantastic. But maybe you should make an asteroid belt or something so people may cross on foot. But still great. I have only given it a quick look-over but I will play-test and get back to you.
I fail to see the point of creating an asteroid belt for people to run across. If you ever watched a battle with the Borg on Star Trek, the Borg generally decimate and use transporters to beam on ships to assimilate the crews... which is what I was attempting to simulate in this infection game type. The map also makes for some pretty interesting assault and capture the flag games. Especially since you can use the transporters to get to the starbase, but must take a ship to get back. That means one team must severely guard the engine room on the Borg Cube, where the bomb/flag is located... while the other team must guard the hangar bay and protect all the ships. I also put two fusion coils in the warp core, so if you detonate a bomb in assault... the two coils explode as well.
On the v2 map, it's located on top of the Federation Starbase. I believe that it's only the Juicy FX. On v1 the Juicy FX are on top of the Borg Cube, I believe.
The Borg Cube has three levels. Bottom level is the where the teleporters are to get to the Federation Starbase. The middle level is the hangar bay where you can actually fly completely through. The top level is where the Borg power weapons are... plasma turrets and missile pods to take down the Banshees and Hornets. The Federation Starbase is pretty much two levels. The lower level is four windows with MG turrets. The main level is a hangar bay with all the hornets and banshees. You also can see the Borg Cube from three main windows on this level.
For a sky-attack map, this is actually very well forged. The theme is a nice twist, as well. I can't really judge until I play on it, but it looks as if it might actually work, rather than devolving into a slaughter of one side or another. 4.5/5.
This reminds me so much of the star wars battlefront 2 maps. Set up a good competitive CTF / Assault version please? It would be awesome.
The Bomb point on the Borg Cube is on the lower level Engine Room. When the bomb detonates, it should blow up the two fusion coils in the warp reactor. I think the flag on the Borg Cube is on the main level's Hangar Deck. The Bomb point and flag on the Federation Base are located in the Hangar Bay, I think. The map is set up for all two-team game types. It should be interesting because whoever is on the Borg side will have quick access to the Federation Starbase using the teleporters. If you're the Federation, you need to protect the hornets and banshees because that's the only way back to the Borg Cube.
