i know i may not seem a credible person because i only have 2 posts here, but i have been in the modding scene since the original halo, and Anthony + Shade are AGAINST all forms of xbox live modding. i am a member at many modding forums, 2 of which include the people who made these mods. you will not be banned for downloading or using these maps, anthony has spoken wih bungie about it, and they have come to the agreement that as long as nothing for matchmaking is released, no one is banned. a correction for the OP, shade has not been banned. anthony and shade work together to create these mods, and the entire process would not be possible without some tools that anthony posseses, specifically a CON resigner. No one can mod besides anthony and members of his team, so you do not need to worry about modding falling into the wrong hands. there is another form of modding possible that uses a 'devkit' or Developer's Xbox 360 aka XeDK. this type of console costs alot of money to get, so it should not be worried about falling into the wrong hands. Also on a note related to these maps, you can thank Sligstorm for more of them not being available, because he is one of the original leakers who took credit for them. If anyone would like more details, send me a message on Xbl and we'll talk :squirrel_wink:

    OFFICIAL WORD FROM BUNGIE'S ACHRONOS:

If you don't believe me, just click on the gold text above and you will be redirected to his post on Bungie.net. Achronos is the Bungie.net Overlord, so his word is more or less LAW. His rulings supercede all others. You will also notice that Recon Number 54, a forum Ninja, also gave the thread his input, but he didn't lock the thread immediately, probably wanting a definitive answer himself.

This topic on ForgeHub was starting to annoy me because I could not comprehend how this is NOT clear to some people, but the Xbox Live Terms of Service forbid tampering/modding/hacking of any kind. EVEN IN CUSTOM GAMES PLAYED OVER LIVE. Yes, I risked my Bungie account by speaking of this taboo subject on their forums (the thread was locked with extreme prejudice by Achronos, lol), but that's the price I'm willing to pay to get this to stop. I made my point and accomplished my mission on Bungie.net in order to shed light on the subject over here.

If you want to ruin our reputation as a legitimate Halo community that plays by the rules, then go ahead and persist in your talks of allowing modded maps onto ForgeHub.com. As for me, if this is allowed to persist, I don't want to be a part of such a nefarious group and will no longer participate as a ForgeHub.com member.

theres been two lines on such maps.

Bungie have said that owning such maps and using them in custom games is not a bannable offence and hasnt said that owning or using such maps will cause a ban but public distribution of such maps will result in a the responsible party facing actions such as bans

I played the Last Resort thing with a full party a couple days ago and several people left whilst threatening to have me suspended for game modification. I'm still up and running lulz >.<

Maybe a good idea to just invite people you can trust to such customs tho...

I provided proof by inquiring over at Bungie.net, receiving a response from the Bungie.net Overlord himself, Achronos. I'll assume you are questioning hobblejp.

@ roche178: Unfortunately, Bungie doesn't have jurisdiction over any other website or what they are doing, unless it infringes upon their legal rights. Since it would be such a chore to find a link to these individuals and their XBL accounts (I'm sure they have multiple accounts too), it is not worth going through that process.

Bungie has faith in its community and expects the majority of us to do the right thing when it comes to topics such as this. It would be unwise to continue using these maps and/or discussing them on our website. We cannot control what Sligstorm et al are doing on their website, but we can certainly help control the flow of information at ForgeHub.com.

This is not to say that Bungie and Microsoft wholly rely on our honor and good will to keep shenanigans to a minimum. They have powerful tools with which to punish those who infringe up on their Intellectual Property (IP), from banning accounts and Xbox 360s to legal actions consisting of lawsuits.

All of us have heard about the banning of accounts, so this can and will happen. And no, I do not have proof of any legal action taken against a gamer, but it would be the next logical step for a company to take if control of their IP were to somehow disintegrate.

When you have a chance, go and read the Terms of Service for your Xbox Live Gold account. There's some pretty heavy-duty stuff in there...

Excerpts from the Xbox Live Terms of Service (Terms of Use):

Just something to think about when you're downloading and playing on those modded maps over Live.
