"Seismic activity has reduced this architectural masterpiece to ruins. 4 - 16 players" ______________________________________________________________________________ Description/Story: I was reading up on a book called "101 Things I Learned in Architecture School", when I realized I wanted to make a rundown architectural masterpiece... So, after about a month and a half of forging and testing, I bring you Earthquake! P.S. If you're wondering how it got the name Earthquake, just read the map description near the top of this page ⇧ Supported Gametypes: ✔ Assault ✔ Capture the Flag ✔ Infection ✔ Juggernaut ✔ King of the Hill ✔ Oddball ✔ Territories ✔ VIP ✔ Custom Gametype(s) Forging 101: ✔ Floating Objects ✔ Effective Spawn Placement ✔ Interlocking Objects ✔ Objects Merged with Map Geometry ✔ Unlimited Budget Glitch Visuals/Video: Earthquake - A Halo 3 Forged Map on Vimeo Pictures: Overview A complex view (it looks messy partially due to the angle, and partially because it was made to look old and .. ruined) Base 1 Base 1, view 2 Base 2 The claimed Architectural Masterpiece (notice the detail?) The (geomerged) bridge leading to the middle building Download Link Thanks: Many thanks to these people who went out of their way to make these amazing forge guides: Furious D 18's Guide to Respawn Areas Debo37's Guide to Effective Grenade Placement/Usage Linubidix's Guide to Weapon Placement - Shotgun Linubidix's Guide to Weapon Placement - Snipers Skittlemeister's Guide to Weapon Placement - Rockets Skittlemeister's Guide to Vehicle Placement - Vehicles BennyIV's Effective guide to Fusion Coil/Plasma Battery/Propane Tank Placement These tutorials helped a ton! Nothing short of AMAZING. The geomerging is sound and the structures are fantastic. The middle structure's twist is unique. Only improvement I could say would be that it felt a bit crowded, but apart from that, FANTASTIC. EDIT: After surfing around the map a bit more, I found that the the Ramp Thicks that you can use on the outside of the central structure to scale to the top, the final is hard to jump to unless you grenade jump. I also like the broken bridge connecting to the center aswell, that is very well made.
Thanks. I'll look into that grenade jump thing also. EDIT: Ohhhh... no this is how you do it: Microsoft paint ftw! Yea, that broken bridge part took a while, especially the "supports" at the end.. Well, it's done and I'm glad it's posted.
Very creative, I love how the main building has a slight turn to it. Couldnt imagine how long that took, great job man.
Very very nice. This looks well forged. I especialy love the broken geomerged bridged and the way you used the scafolding legs. Its the little details like that which really make maps shine aestheticly. Also I like the steps made from ramp thicks, another gr8 idea. 5/5 for Aesthetics. Q'ued fo DL
Great man, I love the aesthetics, but I think you could definately sell this map with some epic gameplay pix.
I, like others I'm sure, took a look at this map and did a little double take on the bridge like "WTF Geomerging FTW!" The rods hanging out are a nice touch also. But the rest of the map is not to be overlooked. Like the building being twisted off its foundation, or the other pile of wreckage that used to be some structure. You really get the feeling that some disaster happened here. The whole atmosphere of this map is awesome. I can't comment on the gameplay yet, but I believe it could be alot of fun. 5 stars.
That's really not my style tbh. I show the map and it's geometry, I don't try and revert the user from the subject at hand. My view is you should just play it if you really want to know about gameplay. In fact, that's what you're supposed to do. Edit: and thanx for the comment, ehand88
The map looks great! I would suggest, to add to the atmosphere, would be to merge SOME of the peices into the ground slightly. maybe on angles. Just to add to the "earthquake" feel. But the map looks great anyways.
Damn you. I haven't slept for two full days. I was about to go to sleep. I was soooo clossseeee. But I just had to click this topic by accident and see this architectural masterpiece. :< Downloading now, I need to go play a few games on it.
I actually lol'd. Whoa. Thank you so much! I'll try it for a v2 sometime. but that won't be for a while because I've got finals starting next week, then I'm going on vacation.. Maybe I can fit it somewhere in between :/
Nope, I do not. Do you mean messy geomerging? because I did that for a pillar in the "bombed out" looking place next to base 1.
This map is very sexy. I love everything about this map. The broken bridge, the askew main building, and the whole thing is outstanding. Good job.
Praise Arceus.... I played it and... It's... beautiful... My face is drenched with tears and my pants are drenched with semen. And I haven't even played an actual game on it yet.
Laugh. The maps ****ing B.A. I just finished playing a few quick 4v4's via System Link with a few friends and it was ridiculously fun. I'll be playing this map for a loooong time.
This is undoubtably a extremely epic map! I love all the little tactical jumps you included around the map. I love aesthetic/competitive maps and this fits into that niche pretty well. The only thing about the map that I find is a problem is the Scorpion. Even though its at 180 sec. it can still dominate for over 15 kills. Anyway apart from the tank thing this is a very nice map. Keep up the awesome forging!
Awesome map! The aesthtics and geometry of your map is simply amazing. The gameplay looks to be crazy fun with tanks and hornets! (Not sure how many) This really needs to be featured. Can't wait to play some games on this. 10/10
