I have been working on a remake of Showdown from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (in the crypt of sandbox) and I have finished a "beta" version. I am just posting this to see if anyone is interested in playing a few customs so I can get some feedback and some action shots. This is not any kind of official testing or anything, just for fun. I really would like to do it tomorrow around 8ish CST. Just send me a message (gamertag = ehand88) if you are interested. I am also trying to come up with a good name for it, the only thing I have thought of is sHALOwdown (kinda stupid, i know) so you can suggest some here. If I can't get enough (maybe 6-8 players) to play tomorrow, we will try again sometime. Edit: we will most likely not have enough players to get some customs in today. This is a really cool remake, I remember Showdown from the days I played CoD4 and it was one of my favorite maps and it seems you've done it justice. I would love to play so matches with you, but I will drop you a review when this is posted and I've played it. The only thing I want to point out is that the Custom Power up that is resting on the Weapon Holder doesn't need the Weapon Holder under it because it can float. It kinda sticks out, but w/e. Also, for a name, you could just name it Showdown, or CoD4 Showdown.
Why not just name it Breakdown? Anyway, the one thing that would make this remake better, is if you raised the top story a little higher. In your comparison of the 2 picks, the wooden platforms act as a comparable standard to the height of the level, and the original is definately higher up. It's not something completely necessary, but it would be a closer remake that way.
Agree, the second story should be higher than it is in the picture you provided. Also agree, just name it "Showdown" or "COD4 Showdown" it will be more effective at letting people know what your map is, plus "Breakdown" is an already overused map name. Are you going to be implementing a COD4 gametype, because i think that would be very necessary to capture the feel of the map. Might I suggest the COD gametytpe TDF designed for his Crash remake way back in the day... Also, if you do this it will subsequently save you budget because you wont have to worry about people escaping the map is their gravity is higher. Of all the COD4 maps, this is probably one that is most suitable to be remade in sandbox.
Firs off, thanks for all the comments. I have hit the OLN limit on this map (also I used an OLN canvas) so any changes would probably require some major reworking of the whole map. But it could be done. Also, when I was remaking this, I was imagining a halo version of Showdown rather than an exact remake. For example, in COD4 you can only get to the 2nd floor using one of four sets of stairs, but in the Halo version you can use some tactical jumps. I don't mind playing a few games using a COD gametype (I am not familiar with the TDF gametype), but like I said this was designed to be the Halo version. I can post a weapon layout and some more pics if necessary.
