VOTE ON THE BUNGIE THREAD. CLICK HERE In infection, there is no common goal, just kill the other team, camp, etc. The same thing you could do in a Team Slayer game. We could bring infection up a notch. Add destination points for humans/zombies. This way, maps like Convoy Tunnel or other various maps that are good but have no good ending could be successful, and there's an objective to the map. The way it works is simple. Just like in VIP how the VIP must get to a certain destination point (depending on the gametype, its optional) the round would end, or they would need to continue to the next destination. We could spice up infection a bit. Instead of humans camping, we could have humans have to go from point A to B in order to complete and win the game. Now, on to the scoring system. The normal scoring system for infection is dependent on kills. To change the scoring system, we could change it for destination infection, so that kills don't count, but destination points do. How will this work with an entire team? You ask. Well, there's two ways to go about it. The first, is where when one person reaches the destination, he gets a certain amount of points added to his score. The second, where the human team must reach the destination, and then the entire team gets a certain amount of same points, only after each human reaches the destination. I personally think the former would work best, but the latter or the former could be used as an option, like the whole premise of infection destinations altogether. If you support this idea, vote "Yes" in the poll. If you do not support this idea, please say "No" and tell us why. I would love to hear why, but please don't say "Bungie won't do it." Thanks for your time. Make sure to read the thread before asking questions.
Bungie can't redesign a whole game type. Just because you bring up a good idea doesn't mean it can or will be implemented.
This would be great. It could be used for a hostage situation where the zombies can't pick up weapons and stuff so they can't let the hostage free but the humans can. The only reason you can't do this in VIP is because both teams have a vip... Anyway yes I think it would be a great idea. Although, bungie will not do it... It's a sad thing to say but it is true... Unless there is like some armageddon(bad spelling) **** going on it isn't gonna happen. Nice idea still tho.
Infection was never anything more than a simple modification of team slayer, with one team slowly converting to the other, with last man traits. All they have to do is add destinations. I've done game coding before (not really this complicated, but still) many things can be redone in a copy paste from something else. They're not even really redesigning an entire gametype, and regardless of whether they're going to do it or not doesn't matter if you want to see it happen.
I wish this would be implemented, but I fear nothing will be changed. It would make a more Manifest style gameplay available. Although, VIP is a pretty good substitute.
hmm, well it appears that i am the only one who voted no >.< (so far..) anyways, i think a time limit on the game is better than a destination point. plus, most infection maps pretty much have a destination point - the end room with all the weapons. i feel like all you need to do is place stronger weapons at different places and then people will flock there by themselves
Not really.. Time limit =/= destination point. Two completely different things. Not all infection maps have end rooms. And even those that do, don't have a stash of weapons. Weapons can be hidden. People aren't going to magically go to power weapons if they don't see them, and when they pick them up, they're naturally going to start camping or finding a hiding spot. Destination points actually give an objective other than "kill zombies and camp." When the destination point is reached, it ends the round. That's the whole point.
I think this idea could be expanded on. For lets say, town-themed maps, you could have hill-like spots, and the entire human team must be in the hill and defend it for a certain amount of time before it moves to the next location. Like defend this building for a minute, then you have to move your forces to another building and take cover there, until you are forced to move again. While fighting off infected.
I don't care if Bungie can do it or not. All I know is that many game companies change their gametypes around all the time. It wouldn't be that tough, would it? Well who knows, it's not like I know what Bungie can and can't do. But sure, I am for this change. I love infection, but the only way we have been able to make infection have destination points has been to make the match a VIP match. Cave Freaks and Valley of the Beasts did this succesfully. But how cool would it be for the actual infection gametype to have destination points? I would love this so much! Because in a VIP match, the map just doesn't have the infection feel to it. If destination points were added for infection, I would love for Bungie to spice them up a bit. While reading through the OP, I thought of an idea. What if the destination points for infection were like, broken down vehicles that repair when the territory is captured. Or perhaps a radio, like from Left 4 Dead where you hold off the building until the helicopter shows up. I think all of these would symbolize progress through the map, and add more drama.
If it were modded it would be good. I too wish you could set destinations for infection. It would stop people camping in a maze map or similar. In fact it would help Sweeney's Manifest map soooo much...
If you had traits for being inside the hill you could prevent camping by things like being slowed down, decaying shields, etc.
