ok so we have a foundry designer and it can be useful to make maps.

And we already know the items on sandbox.

So why doesnt forgehub get a sandbox designer on here so that then we can go ahead and start designing are maps?

I think this is a great idea hopfully the forgehub community thinks so too, and we can get one in here

Well firstly the map ain't out so how they going to now its size of the map and objects.
Secondaly not many people use the designer, i see most use sketch up or just draw on a notebook.

They may make it but not right noaw.

Considering the variety of objects and the huge space we've been given, I don't think we'll need a specifc Sandbox designer.
The Foundry designer was useful because the space was limited and so were the number of items.

Sandbox has loads of space, loads of items and a handy grid on each level. And FYI, 1 single block = 2 GU (grid units) x 2GU x 2GU. A lot the scenery will have similar dimensions (half wall = 2GU x 1GU, double block 4GU x 2GU x 2GU) so it won't be too hard for people to just use squared paper!

Just follow your heart, I mean...use your imagination...that's what I always do.

A little bit of the Napoleon Dynamite mentality never hurt anybody.

    Nope. I mean squared paper.

    Paper with squares on.

Atleast, in the UK, we have both squared paper and graph paper. Squared paper tends to be sheets with a a grid of squares on (usually 1cm/0.5cm) and graph paper as also a grid but with small squares (usually 1mm).
It must be something which varies in different countries. Like how in UK, most of us wear 'pants' under trousers, not pants as trousers.

    I prefer circled paper.

I don't see why we'd need one but it can't hurt if somebody decides to. I personally use pencil and paper to sketch out my shtuff. With sandbox, i see masterpieces being made without much planning at all.

I suppose a good thing about the size is you can experiment with objects while making the map because there's so much space!
Unfortunatly, we'll probably alos see tons of maps which attempt to use all of the space, spawn points and teleporters all over the place.

And this is slowly becoming a Sandbox discussion thread... I'll stop posting here.

people use foundry designer?..... i'd much rather people come out with sketch up components. and then a skybox template, sandbox template, and a cript template. And post it in fritzter's sketch up components.

Well grid paper is .5 cm by .5 cm and besides, there's a budget that you must take into account. Plus the limit and the size of each level sky bubble, not really, but the crypt and the main level, yes.
