Overhead - The top surface in an enclosed space of a ship Hi, second map i've ever posted here, hope you like it. What makes this map unique? Well it has a Ceiling!! See for yourself! VIDEO The entire map is built at the top of the crypt, so the entire map has a ceiling. Also the map has pillars hanging out of the ceiling to break up lines of fire and in one instance a jumping path. Its asymmetrical and multi leveled, providing open lines of fire for BR fights and tight cluttered areas for some close quartaers combat. There are no shotguns as they make defending the base too easy. The red team spawns on one side of the level with a flame thrower, 2 firebomb grenades and a bruteshot to assault the base. The blue team spawns with a clear path to the sniper, and obviously the superior defensive position (in one flag games). The map was a real challenge to make, as I had to stack blocks (13-15 high to be exact) so I could just build the level. It took 3 nights of work, and a night of testing, and then a night of rebuilding some parts, but now I believe its ready to be released. Gametypes: Currently the map is set up for CTF, Slayer, King of the Hill, and Infection. I will be updating with Asssault and territory variants soon. The map can use default gametypes, just make sure BR is starting weapon and AR is secondary. How many players? The map plays beautifully from 2-8 players, any more than 8 the level is going to feel very crowded. Weapons on Map: Bruteshot x2 Beamrifle x2 Firebomb Grenades x2 Flame Thrower x2 Machine Gun Turret x2 Battle Rifle x2 Mauler x1 Carbine x1 Plasma Grenades x4 Overshield x1 Screenshots! Overview Red Side Middle Blue Side ACTION SHOTS IN 13TH POST. DOWNLOAD Enjoy! If you want to play this, or any other sandbox custom, PLEASE send me a friend request, my Gamertag is Kelvz.
i like how it had a roof and the general aesthetics but you used walls as floors and they get bumpy after you save it other than that, great map
This map looks very nice. Whataver FX you used in the first pic should stay on there though. I am going to add them after I download, because it looks nice with the roof Que'd
Yeah, the floors do get a little bumpy, but I was out of things to build the floor out of, and tbh, I think every good sandbox map is gonna have a little bumpiness to it (Utah Mambo has some bumps, but its still great). The map and that floor area still plays great as far as gameplay goes. The thing about leaving the gloomy effect on (the 1st screenshot) is it makes the level way too dark when your away from 1 of the 4 lights.
This map is revolutionary! At least to me. The way it is positioned on the roof is absolutely awesome! I never would have had the energy to do something like that!Aside from my babbeling, The layout looks like it would make for some hardcore br fights, especially with the obelisks hanging from the ceiling. It really looks like the inside of a cave or something. Can't provide much criticism until I play it so... dled.
You said that there were no maulers...and yet the weapon description has one in it? Interesting... Anyway, I like the look of the map, but the roof seems a bit too low. You could have built the map a bit lower. But with whats here, it looks pretty cool, albeit a bit bland. Like a Halo: CE map. But I think it would be really good for some casual games. Good job. 7/10.
Absolutely outstanding. It really isn't easy to make something completely unlike everything else. It's hard to find a niche on Sandbox, since the only tools you have are the standard ramps and walls. This map uses a very original concept and almost looks like a totally different map compared to sandbox. It somewhat reminds me of some UT maps...
The map looks great. Although it looks a little small and not alot of space to acutally fight. I liked that you used the ceiling and walls of the crypt to your advantage, although in some of the screenshots it looks like the entire map is on a slant!:O
Have you even played it? The map is built for anything but casual play. The map was built to block certain lines of sight to make for hectic BR play. In fact, the map was built and play tested with MLG gametypes. And what looks bland about it? I have not (and please prove me wrong) seen a single map built like this, so far up in the crypt. Please test before you rate.
http://www.forgehub.com/forum/competitive-maps/70929-attic.html Proved ya wrong. Although this doesn't mean you're not revolutionary, it just means that both are, since they were posted so close together. The map looks a little bland as in the actual layout of it. But I do like how you used objects to blck lines of sight. It shows you reall playtested this. Good job, 9/10
I saw attic a while back, its similar but doesn't use the same overhanging cover ideas, but it is a good map and alot of fun. I see the map has 20 dls, can I get some feedback so I can improve?
It looks pretty bland. I mean, there's really no aesthetics. Second, it looks waaaaay too open for anything apart from casual. I actually did download and I had a forgethrough, and it seriously needs some more cover. Third, here. This is a map based on the same principle. So try looking around and trying to understand my post before you get pissed off.
Posts like these provide no help to map makers whatsoever. No asthetics? Sure. Besides the Ceiling and pillars coming out of the ceiling, not only providing a unique feel but blocking lines of sight. Way too open? A forgethrough is one thing, have you played it? I'll say again, the map was designed for MLG settings with no radar and BR starts. Its a BR playground. A forgethrough is not playing the map. And yes, i've seen attic, i've downloaded it, played it, its alot of fun and i'd reccomend it. Yes the map is open, on one side, thats the point, but there are plenty of structures and elevations to break lines of sight. This map was thoroughly play tested to make sure fights were fun and balanced. Please do not post any posts until you've actually played on said map, becuase comments like its just too open for anything besides casual play just show that you have not played the map, and offers nothing constructive to any map maker.
This map looks really good and i mean it, looks like a good capture the flag map but thats just me. Top marks and i love the roof, shame about the floor but i have made the same mistake too so not going to mark you down. 5/5
Thanks, yeah the map is built with one flag CTF in mind. I knew about the bumpy floor problem, but i wanted to get all the way across the crypt and not have to cut off part of the level and make it even smaller. Also, i'm a huge fan of pipeline, its my favorite foundry map for when me and my friends play 4 person split screen. ACTION SHOTS
I really like the look of this map. It looks like you put a lot of effort into this and produced something very unique. All the merging looks really clean and the use of teleporters could add a really interesting twist to gameplay. A 5/5 and a dl from me. Keep up the good work. ELITE
THIS ISN't AN ORIGINAL IDEA! DO NOT THINK THAT HE MADE THIS FIRST. Makisupa was the first one to use this technique in his map Attic. Please don't take credit for the idea. The map itself looks not bad but a little sloppy. The walls for floors things doesn't really work. Im sure it supports very fun gameplay though. Good work. EDIT: weird he just posted. twilight zone moment there. do do do do do do do do. Just look in his sig.
Ceiling Great job on this one. I released a map at the top of the crypt at almost the exact same time as you. The maps are totally different though. I really like what you've done with that space. I especially like the filter on the action shots. The crypt ceiling seems to be a great spot for filter use. I used the same method of stilting double boxes up to the top to create the floor. Very creative use of an underutilized space.
Quite a bold statement, and way to state it in such an immature way. I had this map made for 2 weeks and was testing it before I posted it here, but he could have been doing the same, so who knows who really had the idea first? @Makisupa Yeah I love Attic, its alot of fun, like you said uses the space alot differently, I just hate building symmetrical maps, it drives me crazy lol. I'm actually working on a video right now with both of our maps, and a few other I plan to post on bungie.net to try and persuade people to quit playing matchmaking and play custom games, as they're the best way to go, gonna be difficult though seeing as my Xbox just RROD (god damnit). Luckily I got all the footage on my comp just before.
