Dynamic game elements

    On maps such as last resort (zanzibar) , stand off and previously containment game elements like the gates can hugely affect the outcome of objective games.

    I am aiming to use forge to recreate a unique object within a map that can hopefully have the same effect. Does anyone know if this has been done before so i could draw some inspiration or has any one had a similar idea and would care to enlighten me to the stumbling blocks.

    P.S. i am new here so if i have done anything wrong please let me know.

    Download Porcelain Pony. It has a flush that opens a gate.

    The Citadel comes to mind, although it is the only way, not really a better way to go. but yes, it has been done quite often, and its quite cool, you do it with grav lift tricks usually, so that one is killed, the other spawns.

    if your also looking for asymetric games, look closely at Citadel, and not really at the Pony...the Citadel might not look as good but competitive wise its probobly the best asymetric map out there, while the Pony has balancing issues.

    The Citadel idea is very simple and therefore very good, however it is obviously not overly useful for vehicles. Its deffinitely something i will use at some point but its not quite right for what i have in mind. Thanks for the tip though. Just about to go over the pony.

    I have managed to break both maps already, which is a little annoying but i guess its hard to exploit the havok engine consistently. On the porcelain pony is there a way to stop the gate opening automatically after 3 minutes due to the spawning gravlifts (i.e. a way of lowering the run time maximum).

    i know citadel is possible, but hard to break...but ive never seen pony broken... :squirrel_wtf:

    The round limit could be set to 3 minutes, making this a non-issue.

    OR, even better, have the round set to 4 minutes, and that way when there is one minute left in the round, it could be symbolized as Liquid Drain-o or something unclogging the plugged up pony. It would give the attacking team a 60 second chance to bomb the pony if they have not already unclogged it themselves.

    That would be awesome to hear people shout "The Drain-o is coming to our rescue! Get ready!"

    Destroyed the two grav lifts at the top and they were the ones that kept spawning back instead of the ones at the bottom. therefore gate wouldnt move. Any ideas on how to stop this.

    There are two grav lifts up there? I remember there being on at the top and one at the bottom. The GL at the bottom would not spawn until the top GL was destroyed or 3 minutes elapsed, whichever came first.

    If you downloaded the official version it should not have this problem. Are you sure nothing was changed if you viewed the map in Forge-mode?

    There are two at the top and two at the bottom but you have the right idea, it just appears Halo 3 doesnt sequentially replace things so if both spawn spots are free it chooses which to spawn, not an issue if the explosion is still going on up top though or so it seems, if the top explosion is over quickly though it can result in the wrong lifts spawning back.

    More explosives seems to fix the problem. I do like your idea about the one minute of grace.

    I think bungie should have gates in forge were there is one thing that opens it and then the gates. That would be kewl.

    Ok i got a map up and working (no games just the dynamics) and was looking for people to try and break it, let me know how they broke it and so on.

    Btw props to Rusty as i have refined his pony turd untrapper.

    I know grenades can penetrate the shield door near the barrier but i intend to only have spike and fire grenades on the map which do not.

    I also know the gate opens badly sometimes but its always possible to pass with the hog.
