    What do you think?

Is it necessary to interlock floors on sandbox?

Im trying to decide if I should interlock my floors or not, Im using blocks in the skybubble. Give a reason why you think you think so.

In foundry it looks better, but on sandbox you can't really tell. I do because if you don't grenades can sometimes slip down in the cracks between floors. But it doesn't make that much of a difference.

Yeah, I looked at the featured maps a second ago for sandbox and noticed that the map Avarice doesn't interlock it's floors. A sign?

There are two linked reason why you would interlock on Sandbox, and they are frankly the same as they were on Foundry. Aesthetics and gameplay. If you interlock your floors, then the floors will probably look very smooth and appear to be a relatively continuous surface, not just a bunch of blocks. This will generally make your map look better. For gameplay reasons, a simple observation must be made: if you do not interlock a floor, then grenades and shots can go between the cracks between the blocks. By interlocking, you pretty much ensure that shots and grenades will not get lost in the cracks, and thus prevent any possibly match-changing glitches. For example, if you throw a frag grenade at a flag carrier and know the grenade will kill him, then you don't want that grenade's bounce or general path to be altered or interrupted. If you are playing on a map that doesn't have interlocked floors, then you might accidentally put your grenade right through that crack. You could lose a game because of that, and nobody likes losing a game due to a preventable problem in a map. Hope this helped :D

The thing is, if you interlock the floors, then it's difficult to get it to line up with the grid. I need the grid for my layout. I'm going to go test and see how much the gernades fall through the floors.

Edit: I tested, and your right, the gernades fall through the floors if they are not interlocked (bummer). The side effect of interlocking the blocks is that you get that weird buggy texture. If you interlock alot you know what I'm talking about. It's that spot that keeps changing when you move around because the textures of the blocks are competing to display. The thing that bugs me is that Avarice go featured but it's floors aren't interlocked, does that mean it doesn't matter that much?

Unless you need an extremely specific measurement for a structure/base or something, then it really isn't that difficult. All you need to do really is get the first box lined up where you want it, then set up guides and interlock. I can pretty much guarantee that the boxes will be straight relative to each other, and that any deviation from the grid will likely be due to human error. I'm not saying you can't forge or anything when I saw human error, I simply mean that you probably won't get it totally perfect, but then again, you might. Good luck on your map though, either way.
