Well since he's doing stuff in notepad I'm going to assume it's some kind of Java program so we can have all the sandbox maps in one place, once it's finished it's definitely something I'll use.
Eh i see your point and i've been asked this question numerous times, i made this thread for those who had the maps before they came out. Now i'm updating it to make it easier to find Sandbox maps.. Reason why? Yes the filter works BUT only if the thread creator for that maps post give it the orange "Sandbox" title we all know.. and alot of people still dont do that and they're map is overlooked. I also saw the "foundry discrimination" thing coming as well, it may take a while but if the new improved SMD is a success after release i may just make a Foundry based one too.. that way it get's rid of alot of the clutter on the forums and the only maps that will be posted are the rare but occasional "Non-forge" map varians (by non-forge i mean not like foundry or sandbox.. but maps that were made with last resort, etc etc.) Thus making it easier to navigate Hope that clears that up. sorry i haven't posted in a while.
Seriously Forsaken, don't give up. This database will be awesome if it works and will blow all the haters away. Also a lot of Sandbox maps are tagged "Infection" or "Mythic" too, so this database will be much more useful than using the search bar. It would probably help a lot more if people who created a Sandbox map could post the map link here after posting it so you can keep track of it more easily.
Ok i found out something that i need help on. i cant discuss the matter on forgehub cuz somebody will most definitely steal the idea. i honestly think this discovery will open up new doors for halo forging. please i need people to test this idea with me. I hope I didn't sound like a prick or anything. I might actually end up wanting something in there if I ever find the time to forge (college + work= no play =(). And the Mythic and Infection bit makes sense to me, I hadn't thought of that part before. is FH actually going to implement your device like on the main forum page?
Yeah, a foundry map database sounds fantastic! And as Goober asked: will it be, like, a tab next to the Foundry Designer? Something like that? Maybe you should ask for volunteers to aid you in keeping it updated, by the way. .. Not saying I'm volunteering, though. You're a god for doing this, by the way. I'm not giving up don't worry . The sad part is it's going to take me longer to make this than i thought.. (HS Graduation, College Searching, Planning on moving, things of that nature.) so it will be delayed but do not worry it will be released. I didn't quote all of you but i'll answer as many questions as i can possibly remember seeing.. Will it be on the main page of the forums? - Yes in a way, you see the little navbar at the top of the site that has links for Home, Forums, Rules, Foundry Designer? Welll... after this is released it will be setting right next to Foundry Designer . Will there be a foundry database? - If FH allows it i will make one for foundry that will have its own tab right next to the SMD tab. This will make it so any forge map actually posted in the forums will be default maps not made for forge such as last resort or assembly. so it will be alot easier to navigate throught the foundry/sandbox maps and their respective map type/gametype and to navigate and find those maps that are made the classical way if any of you so choose to look for them . You should have volunteers help maintain it. - That's the plan, sooner or later i will implement a login form on the Database that will allow the person(s) with the proper password to login to a text editor such as the post editor on these forums that will allow the person(s) to edit the Database and save the changes.
