Wouldn't you think it would be a little impractical for a population as a whole to learn new languages every time a majority population is changed?

You think I'm a bigot? I'm perfectly capable of inducing reason; you're the one who's yelling at everyone not agreeing with you. I responded perfectly fine to Jelleh; I'm only arguing with you because you attacked my argument, so naturally I'm attempting to invalidate your argument and reassert mines. Likewise, you're doing the same. I hardly see how holding a different opinion than yours makes me a bigot.

Seriously that is the only thing you and AMoeba ever say as defense. Do you really think that no one reads what you write EVERYTIME you post?

Diablo: The first is a metaphor, and the second explains the Tennessee comment. Some of Nemi's other comments were also due to your vaguely sarcastic comment (which is probably why you got the infraction).

And I say if it's no big deal now, and if it won't cause war later, then it's no big deal. :p
We can all learn Spanish in school, just maybe take it more seriously.

This is a just a quick tidbit before I post a big thing again, but where I live, the second most common language after English is Tagalog (spoken in the Philipines), followed by Japanese, then Ilokano (also spoken in the Philipines). Only about 1.66% of the population speaks Spanish. I think that having a multilingual course really depends on where you're living. I mean, I'm taking Spanish. I hate it. Because even if I might move to the mainland US soon, I'd much rather have a language I can more readily apply, such as Japanese (because they don't exactly teach any Filipino languages at my school) or Chinese. Since Filipinos have the second and fourth most spoken languages in Hawaii, they're to us what Mexican immigrants in the USA are like. They do yard work, manual labor, etc. And yes, they work at McDonald's, too. But we don't need to force Filipinos into learning English. It's not like there are zero Filipinos that have white-collar jobs.

Actually, you. Its blatantly obvious you're wrong. I'm not getting offended here, but you've made that statement before, and its just idiotic. You're trying to defend yourself by saying that's all we say while in the meantime what we say you most of the time never understand in the first place. What a revelation isn't it?

You're attributing us to some form of idiot, and that's why all your arguments are dry.

Yeah...it's too bad you can't sig it yourself.

The difference with my quote from you and your quotes from me is that I didn't get an infraction for figures of speech, analogies, and other misquotations. I derived your quote directly from what you said. You took out bits to villify me. Following the magic quote train of what I'm interpreting as the path of the discussion:
My powers are various, but they do not include mind-reading. I can read the posts fine; what I cannot see is the apparently tiny subtle so-called sarcasm that apparently is only visible to those in your arguement.

Yes we should. English is a wide spoken language in the U.S. Although the United States is based off immigration, we should have a national language to define the states as a country and not just land of immigration.
People who came to the states legally can keep their customs, but they should adopt the English language.

But, that is exactly what America is. Most European countries flocked here with immigrants all speaking different languages at first, but England focused more on the East Coast as there colonies which eventually became the U.S as Spain and Portugal went South and France went to the Western part of the Americas. The only reason that the majority language is English is because it was a colony of England. This topic really isn't debatable because what they have now (none) is working and forcing people to learn a language is just wrong. Illiteracy, every language has illiterate people who learned from hearing, how will they learn English? And English is hard... it is not like your Spanish class you take at a high end school.

Only because you bitched and moaned about getting the infraction, and claimed that it was sarcasm. However, your paragraph was void of any hints of sarcasm.

    /thread.

You bring up a good point. Immigrants shouldn't have to be forced to learn a language, but should have the option to take a class once they become a U.S. citizen.
As for natural born citizens, they will just learn the language naturally as we did.

you whats very very wrong, some of the Mexican American community wanted the nation anthem to be sang in Spanish after English. I think English should be the main language.

Actually, I picked it up because he usually doesn't say stuff like that. But I did have to re-read it a couple times; the thing that tipped me off was that he said something like "Since you think I'm racist, I'll act racist." ..But it was ambiguously worded.

And honestly, I agree with Nemi; making an official language and making people take classes will just alienate those who don't have the time or money. We need them more than we need a national language.

Do you have citations of this? I tried googling "Mexican American national anthem spanish", but any terms I can think of can't find this event you've used.

So I'm not allowed to defend the arguments of others of which I might agree with?
