Does anybody else think that Bungie should of taken a lesson from the creators of Garrys Mod?
I think Forge would be much more enjoyable if it had a variety of tools that allowed us to freeze items in the air, duplicate to the side so we get perfectly set items, and much more.

Do you think Forge should have more features?
or do you think it's fine the way it is?

I think that it should be kept the same, I really enjoy it this way. I mean sure, there would be some many options, but it wouldn't be simple, and thats what everyone loves about forge-its simplicity.

I agree with Youtuber, it may take tie, but it is what I am used to , I like it, and it works, so good idea, but it would work better for new forgers.

I see your point, and do agree, but I still find Forge too simplistic.

I just thought of something that would make Halo 3 a much more enjoyable experience for mappers. Instead of an in-game Forge engine, why wouldn't Bungie create a program for the computer, similar to UED(Unreal Editor). That way, the mappers who know their way around such a program can get more in-depth with the map, then upload it to Bungie.net where they can put it up for download.

If a program like this existed, we wouldn't have to build on a empty map made by Bungie, we could create our own maps from the ground up.

That would truly make this game godly.

Thats a nice idea, but then you would have noobs out there "building" "maps" that would have all sorts of graphical holes, death pits, and other annoying crap. It would be nice if you could regulate it to those who truly forge to enjoy making good maps and are truly good at it, but theres just no way to do that.

It would be nice to see a few new features, but nothing too complex or elaborate. Bungie really did something good when they made a simplistic map editor. I used to make maps for Command Conquer (don't know if you guys know about that) and the map editor was great. It had all sorts of terrain options and everything(destroyable geometry anyone?) but it was pretty complex to use because there was soo much to it that it made it difficult to use.

Simplicity is a powerful characteristic, and I think Bungie tapped into that rather well with Forge...

if i could change forge, i would make these changes:

    1. Put a "snap to 90 degree angle" button, so if you are trying to make, say, a grifball stadium or an arena on a map, you could just press a button and whatever you are holding instantly snaps back to being the way it started as. Like this:

    I
ok, heres my wall. now, say i go to put my wall on my other walls, but in the process, it gets screwed up like so:
    /
now, rather than ****ing around trying to get it to work, i simply press my button, and
    I
    its normal again!

    2. allow every item on every map unlimited times for free. and all objects are free too. this way, i'm not limited to Avalanche or Standoff when making this map:
    http://www.forgehub.com/forum/halo-forge-discussion/53415-odst.html
so i could make it on blackout, or valhalla, or maybe even sandtrap(which would be AWESOME).
    3. implement a map building program on forge. like the computer forge idea but on the xbox. so you can go to forge and either select a map to forge on, or select "create new map". then you choose what ground type, the terrain features, the buildings, everything about the map basically, and then just forge on it. that way i could remake blood gulch the real way, with the sand and bases and everything, not the crappy valhalla way. or i could create an urban environment, like halo 2 vista's district http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/District_(Level)

these are probably the only things id do to it

I think you should be able to add blood and corpses and sound effects as well and openable and closeable doors and windows

I don't know if they would have enough room on the disc for a full map editor. Anyway, forge is fine. Its easy and a lot of fun. Why put something really complicated in where you have to try really hard to learn it.

Forge wasn't really ment to be an actual map maker, more like a box, vehicle, and spawn placer. But I see your point you got going on. It would make forge alot easier. But at the same time when people take time to actually do that kind of thing it shows the time and skill they have to put a map together like that.

A few new features would go along way, I mean simplistic ones.

!. The ability to group items
    2. Having preset rotations of 90 and 45 % etc.
    3. On -off snap to grid function , having items snap into place like lego's would great.
Sandox has a grid, but for sight only.

Definitely not everyone. I'm sure a lot of people wish there were better forging options to make their maps as perfect as possible.
I would like to see that as well, very much so.
These are very good, and still simple ideas. And I always thought a good term for your first suggestion would be "linking."

It would also be nice to have options like this occur in layers, so you can use them to make multiple floors. Basically, imagine if you had invisible planes like the sky bubble actually within your maps. You could add them to the map when wanted, turn them on and off for when you're forging different parts, and adjust their height settings too.
