    Map Title: Sand Valley
These ancient ruins are the only remnants of a conflict that echoes through history. 6-16 players

    Download Map

    Description:
This is my first map submission.
I really only started with a general idea of what the "pitt" in the middle was going to look like and that it was going to be a symmetrical map, the rest of it just came into its own after throwing around a bunch of ideas until i got something that i liked.
The bases were heavily influenced by the bases of the Foundry MLG maps to give it that sort of hardcore/competitive sort of feel to it.
The weapons and vehicles were centred around giving the gameplay a combination of what you would get on Sandtrap and Sandbox.
The "pitt" is designed to allow for intense on-foot battles but also to allow the vehicles complete access so you can enjoy getting some funny splatters while flying through the air.
The overall layout allows for plenty of in-your-face carnage for teams of 3v3 up to 8v8.
Splazer spawns in the centre of the pitt and Sniper rifles spawn on the second platforms at the front of each base.
    Supports all gametypes.
Recommend Gametypes: Multi-Flag, Neutral Flag, Territories (symmetrical and asymmetrical), KOTH (moving and non-moving), Assault (Multi and Neutral bomb).

    Weapons:
    Battle Rifle x8
    Assault Rifle x4
    Sniper Rifle x2
    Splazer x1
    SMG x6
    Plasma Rifle x4
    Covenant Carbine x8
    Brute Shot x2
    Missile Pod x2
    Mauler x4

    Equipment:
    Bubble Shield x2
    Regenerator x2
    Energy Drain x2

    Grenades:
    Frag x10
    Plasma x22

    Vehicles:
    Mongoose x4
    Warthog x2
    Chopper x2

The idea of this map is totally orginal and looks for sweet gameplay. I would deffinitely take the time to interlock "the pit" area and each base to make it easier on the eyes and make it alot more professional looking. I would deffinitely also spread the vehicles out, so not everyone can get to one within a couple secs or be camped or all blown up with a couple nades. You should get a lot of downloads for this, including mine. ;)

    Cheers mate,
By the way the pitt is interlocked, if you look more closely at the birds eye view that it is made of merged large ramp pieces, i didn't want to interlock the base because the pieces would have been out of line with the marking grid.
Thanks for the advice on the vehicle placement too, the thinking behind their placement was that i wanted to have them close each other to allow a quick start to the game, and to encourage plenty of on-foot gameplay since they are so vulnerable to being destroyed all at once.

I know the inside corners ("large ramp" objects) are merged to make it a corner but I was referring to the "Huge Wedges" that surround the "Large Ramps". You could interlock everything, and don't need to refer to the grid lines to match everything up. Just use a double block as a guide a move one piece at a time.

Thanks mate, ill keep that in mind for the next map i can be buggered making. By the way i used double blocks to build the red and blue bases, and for most of the huge wedges i actually had to interlock them with the double boxes coz they wouldn't fit, the ones that did fit, the gap was less than half the width of a wall, i didn't think that it was too bad since i started with 1 large block that i placed dead centre and then based the whole pitt off it.

This map looks very nice. The pit itself is a good design and I'm sure there will be some epic battles around it. I really like the interlocked columns and lights at each base, its a simple touch but it looks really nice. And I think you are right about placing the vehicles near each base because if you grab one right at the beginning and rush you are likely to get destroyed, kinda like on Valhalla. It makes people think twice about that. Good job on this post.

have you experimented with making a tunnel through the middle of the pit?
from one base to the other

it might be worth trying out
it would add another, faster route across the map

    Pros:

Very excellent forge skills, making a very symmetrical map. Looks like a great Slayer of Flag map. The asthetics are amazing, especially the Pitt.

    Cons:

My only problem is the Pitt. It serves no actual purpose in the game, other than getting stuck in it, it looks like it could be a very annoying obstacle.

Yeah, I really like the middle pit - I feel that the design that you used for that is superb as well. Let me run a few games on this before I can give you an accurate rating. So far I haven't seen any thing that touches Soulcrusher's maps that are located on this part of sandbox. I do like the idea though and the map has a good amount of originality as well.
