Unforgiven 3.0 Tombstone / Hang 'Em High Remake My goal for this map was to capture the gameplay essence of Tombstone as well as Hang 'Em High. Matching the level block for block, shape for shape was never my goal. This map plays the most like the original two while importantly being updated for Halo 3 gameplay. If you're worried that means I changed the map's look like others, don't. You'll feel at home your very first spawn. Sniper, Rockets, Shotguns, Bruteshots, grenades, some BRs and Needlers all share locations with Tombstone. Carbines and other BRs are placed to be apparent at spawn and balance gameplay. Other weapons have been added, moved, or removed to offer a diverse option of strategies. 4-12 players suggested Gametype Breakdown: Suggested: Team Slayer BRs 1 Flag Territories Land Grab Team King 1 Bomb Supported (All Tested and Working): Team BRs 2v2, 4v4, 5v5 Team Slayer 2v2v2v2, 4v4, 5v5, 6v6 One Flag 2v2, 4v4, 5v5 Territories 4v4, 5v5 Land Grab 4v4, 5v5 Team King 2v2, 4v4, 5v5 VIP 4v4, 5v5 One-sided VIP 5v5 One Bomb 4v4 (challenging, but still can be a lot of fun) Do Not Play Well: FFA Oddball Team Ball 2v2 (Opinions on this are very polarized) Multi-bomb (Any #) Multi-flag (Any #) Neutral Bomb (Any #) Currently Untested: One Bomb 5v5 One-sided VIP 4v4 Slayer Slayer BRs Juggernaut Crazy King Mosh Pit Infection variants (Spawns placed) SWAT variants (only minor, non-exhaustive tests done) Weapons/Equipment on Map: (all spawn at start) 1 Sniper Rifle 2clips @150sec 1MAX 1 Rocket Launcher 1clip @180sec 1MAX 1 Energy Sword @150sec 1MAX 2 Brute Shot 2clip @90sec 3MAX 2 Shotgun 2clip @90sec 2MAX 1 Mauler 1clip @60sec 1MAX 8 Battle Rifles 2clip @10sec 12MAX 2 Carbine 2clip @10sec 2MAX 2 Needler 2clip @90sec 3MAX 2 SMG 2clip @30sec 2MAX 2 Plasma Rifle @30sec 2MAX 8 Plasma Grenades @30sec 20MAX 6 Frag Grenades @10sec 6MAX 1 Overshield @180sec 1 Regenerator @120sec 2MAX 1 Bubble Shield @120sec 2MAX 1 Energy Drain @120sec 1MAX Screenshots: Aerial 1 Red Base Level Blue Base Lower Catwalks Upper Catwalks 'Cloak' Ramps The Pit Command Center Inside Red Lift Ramp Covered Ramp & Overshield Corner Walkway Action Shot - Flag to be Scored Rendered Walkthrough of v3.0 Gameplay Video Provided by "SASQW4TCH" YouTube - Unforgiven 1.995 :: tombstone/ hang em high remake I've been working on this map a lot. I'm pretty happy about how far it's come and how everyone seems to like it so far. I have had some really great, critical feedback which is why the map is as good as it is. With that said, I'm still open to constructive feedback. how do we know if its good if you only have one picture. i will sownload i guess (didnt want too) and give you better feed back but from what i see the trech looks way to big for the size you scaled it down but i dont know yet for sure.
There are half a dozen pictures linked to the map download, as well as two videos. I'll add more here though. This is my first post after all...
If you want more people to dl, you will need more pics, regardless if they are on your linked on your map. Simply use,Halo Screen Shots Enter your gamertag, and it'll get you a list of your latest pics. Gameplay wise, it looks very interesting, the high pillars and the numerous levels look fun to play on.
Wow! You need a lot more screenshots, this is awesome! I didn't realize this was a hang'em'high remake, but when I downloaded it and ran through it, its awesome!!! I'm amazed you were able to make a true remake with the trench in the middle. I'll edit my post when I have a game or two under my belt and I can rate the game play, but on a first run through, it looks beautiful! GJ. Edit: Whooo its a little more cramped, but it plays beautifully on my H1 gametype (3 shot kill with the BR, 110% Move speed). We played 4v4 on it and it was awesome, good job.
so you are saying that a maps goodness depends on the pictures, You are stupid. Well i think it is a reasonable remake. The upper platforms could be a bit bigger, I had more trouble than nescissary walking on them, and the depth of the ditch is fine, you can still jump out. Overall nice.
how about you read my whole post before you quote taking crap kid. i said HOW do we know its good if you only have one picture. HOW DO WE KNOW i never aid it was bad i never said anything besides HOW DO WE KNOW. so please get off my jock till you can actually read. =D And you double posted. =) http://www.forgehub.com/forum/announcements/30-read-before-posting.html check the forum rules. =)
So goddamn ironic that you double posted while calling someone out on double posting. =) Such a goddamn hypocrite, it's laughable.
Title? I don't need no stinkin' title. Now that's setting a great example for the new kid.... oh wait... probably not. Let's all get along now!
pixiedust seems so angry. i guess thats what happens when you spend countless hours building a remake that doesn't play anything like the original. and the doublepost... absolutely hilarious as for the hang 'em high remake, it looks good, although i'm anticipating a very bumpy ground level. obviously the best part about your map is that you included the trench, which most people seem to have forgotten about. making the trench, however, has certainly cut into your budgets, and the rest of the map is less ornate than it could otherwise be. it's hard to decide what's more important in these remakes: the inclusion of the trench or scaled accuracy.
You didn't give me any credit... sadfaic Anyway its nice to see this map somewhat finished although improvements such as walkway smoothness can be dealt with for the time being. You've got yourself a pretty spot on map.
That's because I ended up not using the changes you made. The changes by the the command center ramp lead to a giant hole underneath, and I couldn't fix the cracks by the cloak ramps, so I just kept with what I had. Then I figured out how to make those cloak ramps smooth similar but different to yours. Your attempt was appreciated, but I never published it and the subsequent versions in my fileshare indicate that. I should have messaged you about that. Sorry for the confusion Amoeba.
I like that you were able to include the trench, but that's the only thing I like about this map. The bases look good, but they barely even resemble the bases in the original map. It's understandable though, because of the number of objects it took for you to raise the floor up. It's clear that you were forced to make some compromises. There are other things on this map that I don't like that I can't judge very well because they might be Tombstone elements, and I never played that map. It's a good map, but the huge differences in scale all over the place and the variations of the ramps on the bases are both too much for me. IMO, those two things are much more important to this map than the trench. I wouldn't call this a remake, but a spiritual successor. One last minor note. In the hallway on the left side of red base, you have some coincidental geometry with your interlocking. Fix that and the flickering will stop. nobody who's remade this map forgot about the trench. It's just impossible to get the bases to look and feel right, and have the trench. There are not enough objects
Well it is intended to be more of a Tombstone remake than a Hang 'Em High remake. So to judge it against just Hang 'Em High without ever playing Tombstone, is viewing it without the proper reference.
Erg I understand how amazing this map is, but honestly Ive seen about 5 remakes in the past week. This one doesnt pull up to the standards of some of the other 50 remakes... arg 3/5
I can't believe you went through all the trouble of making the floor just for the trench! The only Hang 'em High remake I've seen that does that. Well done.
Then I'd like it to be called a Tombstone remake. Not Hang 'em High / Tombstone. Because the maps do have major differences.
