Now there is a lot to say about this character. Once i saw the new GA challenge, i had an idea. The idea was to make a so called "FPS Man", basically, a character that has parts from the most popular first person shooters. So i began with a simple line tool outline of the character. Then, today, i added on a lot more stuff to make him look more badass. All together, 'Gaz' has parts of characters from games like Halo 3, Killzone 2, Half-life 2, Bioshock and a little bit of Call of Duty 4. Now about the name. he was originally titled "FPS Man", but then my friend pointed out that he didn't have a gun. Time for a name change. The name Gaz was created long before i even had xbox live. I was playing GOW1, and my friend wanted to play some slit-screen coop. So, he plugged in a controller, and was notified that he must create an acount in order to play GOW coop. SO, i grabbed the controller. Thinking i would never use the account gain, i made the name 'Gay". Due to my quick movement of the analog, i accidentally named the account "Gaz". So, now to the hard part. I was done with the image when i noticed one thing. It wasn't colored. I knew it would take a long to digitally paint the image, but i wanted it to look really good. All together, the painting took around 4 hours. It was my first time digitally painting, so i really had to experiment. Now that i have that out of the way, i present you with Gaz V1.
I don't really like how it is essentially a Frankenstein, but overall it is great and a lot better than mine. I'm not too sure about the fire hand either.
The gas mask tube looks a little weird, and the tube that just leads the the chest, and not some sort of machine on the chest, is weird. This is more of an opinion: The left shoulder piece should appear on the right, and the shoulder piece should also appear more angular and pointy if you got it from the Arbiter.
Every part i used from something i changed in multiple ways. Its from Fallout, not the Arbiter. And i will fix the tube in some way. Could you elaborate on how to fix the colors. A mouse.
I actually may be able to. Great tutorial: And a great .PDF tutorial: ImagineFX | Liberate Your Colours
Sadly, i do not feel like repainting it, and if i made the BG color different, it would look like crap, because i used that gray for some of the parts of the body. Thanks anyways. I will use this for further painting.
You don't need to do the BG first. Most concept artists use a white background. You can ignore the BG part of the tutorial. Read the PDF also
Also, sorry to double post, but I noticed two parts that didn't seem right. The left part, it looked to me like his arm was behind him and like charging up, so I made it appear as though the holster was in front of it. And on the right, he just seemed a little too fat, I guess Hope you don't mind.
I can see the mix of all the games in this one character, very interesting. His groin area doesn't seem right, almost like there is no groin.
v2 I will fix the groin, the knees, as well as some other little things for a v3. ALso, i will fix the plasmid, or just get rid of it...
Hey i suggest you also fix his right arm where it kind of looks like his arm is in front but it's actually behind and his right hand is semi-jagged. Being the first one to be presented for the Graphics contest it's really good.
