As the title suggests, I propose we remove the moderators, and replace them with a democratic system. In this system, if someone deserves an infraction they would be reported. Upon being reported, a thread would be created where the reporter would write what and why the offender should be reported for. A poll would then be set up, and the Forge Hub community would decide as a whole whether or not to pass the vote for or against the infraction. Once this decision is made, the offender is either free to go, or another vote is made about the length of the infraction/ban. Once at least 66% of the people vote for one punishment, it is carried out. With this system, moderators would not be given too much power, and bogus infractions would not stand like they do now.

Bogus infractions? Using this forum is a privilege, not a right. There is a clear set of rules, that punishes people based on repeated acts of misconduct. If you don't follow the rules, you don't get to use the site. The system we have now is, if anything, too lenient.

Do you have any idea the amount of reported posts moderators have to go through? Think of it this way, everyday over four pages of threads are created from reported posts, having people vote about every single post would simply not work.

That aside if you did receive a "bogus" someone will make a thread about it and discuss if the situation warranted an infraction or not, alot more discussion goes on than you might think.

i completely disagree with you on this. i was infracted (permanently as well) for having some stupid sig violation. i have had the sig for at least 3 months now; why should i have to get an infraction now?

and the rules are certainly not too lenient. some moderators are horrible and hand out infractions like candy, if they didn't like candy......

No. Just No. You need members to be enforcing the rules and thats what Moderators are. Moderators are no more powerful than you, with the only exception is they can moderate the forums. They're doing a good job of it too, I mean 4 pages of reports everyday? That is actually alot of work if you have ever run or moderated a forum.

Just follow the rules and you wont have to complain how "t3h m0dz r c0rruptzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!"

And you know what, I don't see anythig coming to this thread other than flaming. Lock perhaps?

That reminds me of the time I killed this guy. The cops found his body 3 months later and charged me with murder. Totally unfair.

    That easy to read.

i have not seen a fair infraction by mods except maybe by tex. the rest of them are waay too strict. squidhands told me "god damnit spartan **** off you pre pubescent **** scraper!" and when i called him a "fagz0r" i was infracted, and he wasn't. prejudice/corruptness much?

and why, pray tell, would we need sig rules anyway? i thought it was 500 tall and 200 wide, which mine followed. therefore i was never informed of it being the other way around, and had no forewarning anyway!!!!

Sigh...if you don't like it, your welcome to leave. Mods mod what they see, they're not super robots that see everything, and being human they all have different ways of infracting, strict and lenient. All your infractions are totally deserved, BTW. You've gotten repeated infractions on your sig without getting the point, IT'S WAY TOO BIG!

Oh, and the mods are totally corrupt. We just infract everyone we don't like because we think it's funny, and then we don't touch the rest of the people when the do the worst stuff. It's lots of fun!

Several things about that. 1) It's Squid, "the elder" of these forums, so if anyone can call you a "pubescent **** scraper" it is him. 2) Chances are you started something to warrant such a response from Squid. 3) Calling him a *** is something we don't stand here, gay prejudice. We've infraction people plenty of times for such antics, because we have several gay members here.

Anyway, as Roche said, this would never work due to the shear amount of reported posts. Infractions can be challenged in the Customer Service section, and most of the time unjust ones are reversed.

    Double Posting

Wow, double posting in a thread about infractions. You are begging for another. You are obviously upset about your recent sig infraction. Your idea for a solution would clog the board to the point that most threads on the forum would be for voting on infractions. You haven't thought this through and you are letting anger guide you proposed policy. Even if the community were somehow in charge of handing out the infractions, why do you think you'd be any happier with their decisions? They probably would have voted the same way about your sig. There are limits on sig size. If yours was larger than the max allowed, you get an infraction whether a mod gives it to you or the general public.

I never called you a "pre-pubescent **** scraper", that was Mastar. Here's what I said to you around the time the comment in question was brought up.
From what I heard, you also called me a douche along with calling Mastar a "fagz0r". You need to borrow some money from your parents and buy a clue, kid.

P.S. - You're still on my ignore list. I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Fun Fact #1: There are over 12,000 reported posts. That's more than the entirety of maps posted on Forge Hub to date.

Fun Fact #2: With your proposed system, there would be two threads per incident, with a required amount of discussion in each, probably roughly working out at around 5 or 6 posts per thread. That totals around 130-140,000 posts over the same period, which is roughly equivalent to the combined number of posts in the Competitive and Casual Map boards. Excluding Off Topic, that's almost 25% of all posts, total, ever. Sounds sustainable - Great idea!

Fun Fact #3: This is, and never will be, anything but a corrupt, fascist dictatorship of moderators who donate their time and experience for free each and every day. Please continue to enjoy the site!!!
