Sandbox Equilibreum

    Although I've been a member for quite some time, I have not ever posted a map, so, if you would, please leave constructive critisism on anything and everything I can do better, forging or otherwise.


    The design for Equilibreum is something I thought up during a forge battle with a friend. I had built a sniping tower and he had built a golf-ball launcher (Which was more annoying than useful) That tower that I had built is, in fact, the same tower that is part of both bases on this symmetric map.


    I have no custom game type for it, though it was designed for Team Slayer. Any other game type will ruin it.


    I have not tested the map, so any glitches you find in the map, please let me know and I will immedietly build a V2. The geomerging and interlocking of the map is not perfect, for I didn't have my usual editor around.

    This looks descent. There is alot of open space and I don't see anything really escalating from the ground to create a block in the line of site and add of aesthetics. And theres nothing on the map that makes me want to download the map (even though I never keep the map I downloaded for more then a day(besides Utah Mambo)). I can also tell there is no interlocking where I can see. Interlocking is essential nowadays when forging a map, It makes your map look better and grenades won't fall through the crack to effect game-play. You have earned a generous 5/10. I would like to see a V2 sometimes.

    By the way: the rating was givin' by looks, I don't know what the gameplays like but It would probably be stale.

    I agree with bioflame on some points, mainly that it is way too open. I see some interlocking could be used, but keep in mind that interlocking does not make a map. Besides that, the map needs a middle structure, and defined pathways around the edges, for the vehicles.

    Overall, 6/10, Because there is way too much open space, and the map is in need of a middle structure. Keep forging, because you have potential

    The spawns are extremely small. There will be lots of spawn killing. "Weapon Storages" are never good for gameplay, its just a big clash of explosions and the winner is the lucky one, who will just spawn kill from there on. Outside cover is very limited, and there is no second level except for the weapon storages. The map is very overpowered, 2 wraiths, 2 warthogs, 2 machine turrets, 2 fuel rods, and so on with the power weapons. This would be better off in a casual gametype setting, because the gameplay would be not at all competitive. Sorry if I'm being harsh, I know thats a lot of negativity. You need some practice. I do like the structures, though. Your sniper spawn looks decent and the storages aren't bad. I hope this has been constructive. Nice first post, though.

    I appreciate the critisism. That's actually what I was looking for. I wasn't expecting a high rating and I will get started on a V2 right away.

    Like I said, I didn't have my usual editor with me that day so.....

    I made the spawns high up in the air to prevent spawn killing, so I dont see how that's possible anyway, and the Wraiths are high up and on Golf tee's so that you cannot drive them around (a little thing I learned in the very same forge fight). The rockets are meant to counter the wraiths and do not have any extra clips so that they can only do just that.

    I will make it less open on the V2 and, really all I was doing was seeing what other people thought of my first attempt and how I can improve.

    edit: and to mr Garfunkle, the fuel rods are for the mongeese out side the only entrance to the weapon storages
