    Ivory Tower Re-Created

I have been trying to recreate my favorite map from Halo2, Ivory Tower, in the skybubble.
However I have ran into the OLN for the map using several budget glitched items and also incorporated almost every item from the skybubble stacked map. My questions to you, Forgehub members, are.........

    A) What is the ideal amount of players on a budget glitched map?
    B) At what point does a map become unplayable 4v4?
    C) Who wants to help test this map this weekend?

I am at work now and cant upload or embed pics but here are two I took last night. ( not the best pics ) The links will take you to my B.net profile screenshots.

    Side Overview
    Garden Overview
    Rockets
    Central Garden
    Overshield Ramp
    Sword
    Lower Shotgun Lift

The maps current name is TUSK.

I apologize if this is posted in the wrong forum.

I think that it can hold 4v4 and up to like 6 players total but more than that and it starts overloading.

I can help test but i won't be on till 10 p.m. Central USA and u beat me to it lol i was thinking of doing a remake i have all the screen's from the original just needed to start lol.

It looks pretty well done thus far. I have one question however. WHy did you make it in the skybubble? Huge waste of materials on floor.

Well the Ivory Tower (Cyclotron) is based at the top of a huge sky scrapper and you can look out the windows and see all the perty clouds. So in the spirit of the map the sky bubble seems to add a great aesthetic value to the map.

If it be faithfully remade in the skybox then fine, but a lot of materials are wasted wit the floor. Gameplay > Aesthetics.

    gameplay > aesthetics

    good call.

I started in the skybubble for aesthetics and because I thought it would take alot less items then it ended up using. Maybe this map will lead to some inspiration for other peoples remakes. But I just felt that the crypt is way too dark and dingie.

I will finish with the spawns tonight and take a few more pics. It is very accurate to the original in floor plan but the back hall is open and I am missing a few columns in the Central Garden area.

Playtests will start as soon as the spawns are where they need to be.

Yeah, seeing as Ivory Tower is also enclosed, you could have saved materials on floor, and made walls instead. Aren't walls more of an aesthetic value than clouds?

Well I finally have it all set up for Slayer, tonight will be the test to see if it can handle 4v4 or only 2v2.

I will start a new version in the Crypt. I wanted to post these pics so peolpe could see that it is possible to recreate, and perhaps give some inspiration.

Now can I finish the Crypt version before the contest closes? Probably not.

I was planning on an Ivory Tower remake in the Crypt, though I think if you moved this down there it would probably play more like the original.

Make it on the ground floor, so out the windows, you can see those evil guardian towers and the clouds. Maybe a killball on one side to make a landmark.

Dont make it on the floor- definately on the crypt. That way you save on floor and walls.

Sometimes, it's just best not to be 100% accurate on remaking a map.
An entirely new look to an old map can rejuvenate the experience. For example, compare Lockout and Blackout. Lockout was an icy construct, blackout is a metallic ... Oil platform or something, I dunno, don't have Legendary map pack, but ok.
I personally prefer seeing an old map remade with a touch of newness. If remaking in the crypt seems too dark, add lights. Red and blue lights, that's entirely in the contrary of what Ivory Tower was like - plain and fairly pale.

Alright, I've lost the point I wanted to make when I started this reply, but I'll post it anyway.

Dude this map was sick, i loved testing it for those who want to know it plays pretty much exactly like Ivory Tower did with a few twists. Oh btw you get my pic of that concept for back lift. If you need any help with that just message me man i can help. I'd rather help you on yours then create on for my self lol.

After a bunch of playtests this weekend I feel as though it plays true to the original. The rush for rockets right off the start of the match, battling for the sniper perch in the upper hallways, the way you surprise opponents when you use the elevator(lift).

CaptnSTFU: I got that pic about the elevator and it looks like it would workout well as an alternative to the way I did it. I will definately consider this when I take another shot at it.

As soon as I iron out some of the key issues that affected gameplay I will post TUSK in the proper forum but for the time being I have do a small amount of rearranging because I hit the OLN.

Thanks to those who helped with playtests.

Anyone interested in testing my maps just send me a FR.

Looks like a decent remake of Ivory Tower. I'm also forging a remake of Ivory Tower for the contest. I'm half way done, but my version is built in the crypt. I used the natural floor and walls to save on items. I would like to test out your map, but I don't want to play it until my version is complete (so i don't end up resorting to your methods of construction by accident.) Good luck rebuilding it in the crypt! If you wanna check mine out, feel free to join me. I will be forging it all throughout the week

Oh and how did you build the elevator? Grav lifts of a real elevator system? I got a guy from H3A to help me build the Ivory Tower elevator
